About me and my therapy practice

Hello! I'm Zaharin, also known as Zah, a Íø±¬ÃÅ registered integrative counsellor. 

I started my counselling studies because I was a mental first aider in a corporate establishment and I wanted to be able to be more effective in that role.

My curiosity turned to passion when I was able to for the first time grieve for my mum whom I lost in 2017. That very first time I experienced the true pain of losing someone very dear to me and experiencing the ability my tutor had to hold me in that vulnerable moment, was the moment I truly understood and began to believe in the profound power of counselling – and its incredible ability to gently hold someone, truly hold them, through their most vulnerable and painful moments.

Since then, in my own practice, I have had the immense privilege of supporting my clients through similar, often overwhelming emotions. I truly get how incredibly difficult it can be to allow yourself to feel challenging emotions, especially for the very first time. And I absolutely appreciate the immense courage it takes to do that. I have been there as clients bravely faced their fears in a safe space, helping them uncover those quiet insights about themselves that empower them to take that crucial steps forward towards change.

What fulfils me as a psychotherapist/counsellor is witnessing the transformations of my clients: from clients who once felt "I am never good enough" to proudly realising, "I didn’t know I could do it!" Or the shift from "I don’t want to share, I don’t want to go there" to that profound relief of "I am so glad I shared this with you." I've even had clients walk into my sessions admitting, "I'm here because someone asked me to, but honestly, I don't believe in counselling," only to leave saying, "I didn't think I would gain anything, but this has really helped me."


Practice description

My integrative approach means I draw from various counseling techniques to tailor our sessions to your unique needs.

If you choose to trust me as your therapist, know that I will do my absolute best to hold you while you process your most difficult emotions. I will share your journey with you as you gently use the insights you gain about yourself to shift old behaviours or thought patterns. And I will wholeheartedly support you as you bravely give yourself a corrective experiences.  

I know what it's like to not be able to find words to express yourself because when I began therapy, I used to be a good storyteller, using visuals to describe my emotions, and eventually, I found words to express them. If you are not someone who initially expresses emotions through words, I can also tailor my sessions to incorporate creative methods such as art, songs, poetry, and writing. I am here to facilitate you in processing your emotions in whichever way works for you. I believe in tailoring my offering so my clients feel comfortable being who they really are during sessions.

We will work collaboratively to understand the root of your challenges and develop strategies for navigating them. I believe in empowering you to find your own solutions and build resilience at your own pace.


My first session

Taking that first step and reaching out can be daunting, so I offer a free initial phone/google meets consultation. This allows us to connect, discuss what you hope to gain from counselling, and ensure we are the right fit for each other.

If you decide you would like to work with me after our chat, I will guide you through the initial stages of therapy.
