About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, committed to offering a supportive therapeutic space where you can explore, process and understand your thoughts, emotions and experiences.
My therapeutic practice is rooted in the person-centred approach, which offers a warm, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to express yourself. I offer a compassionate approach for you to explore whatever you may need support with, be that anxiety, depression, identity, significant life events, relationship challenges, self-worth, grief. No issue is too small.
I aim to provide a nurturing environment to support you in cultivating lasting change through a holistic approach: my practice experience incorporates nature, movement (walk and talk therapy), African Centred restorative praxis and mindfulness.
I offer walk and talk sessions in Birmingham. My approach holds person-centred practice at its core, whilst bringing together the benefits of talking therapies, movement and the therapeutic benefits of connection with nature. Walking side by side outdoors offers a dynamic environment, which can provide a more comfortable setting for clients who find face to face sessions overwhelming or simply want to incorporate movement into the session.
Practice description
I am an accredited Person-Centred counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ) and working in line with their ethical framework and professional standards.
I have experience working face to face, walk and talk therapy, online and telephone counselling and have worked with a range of issues in both clinical and community settings.
I offer both short-term and long-term counselling. Sessions are 50 minutes in length and currently take place online, or as walk and talk sessions based in Birmingham.
My practice is committed to holding an affirming space, particularly for those with marginalised identities including LGBTQIA+, African/Black and global majority, neurodivergent, disabled. I am interested in working with individuals whose identity is not necessarily the cause of issues but might add complexity to your lived experience which you would like to better understand.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute call for us to have a chat and get to know whether working together feels like a good fit for you. I’ll be happy to share more about my therapeutic approach and offer an opportunity to ask any questions you might have before we go on to work together.
During our first session, I’ll give a fuller overview of how I work and there will be an opportunity to discuss how we will work together. You’ll be invited to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what goals you may have for therapy.
The sessions will go at your pace. Therapy is not a ‘quick fix’ but rather a process of exploring your thoughts, feelings and emotions to discover new perspectives and ways forward.
