About me and my therapy practice
My Experience
Through my volunteer work with a local charity, I have gained valuable experience supporting clients from a diverse range of backgrounds with a variety of concerns, ranging from childhood trauma to work-related stress. I am known for being open-minded, approachable, and trustworthy. I am particularly passionate about supporting those experiencing anxiety, bereavement, or issues around sexuality.
Alongside my private practice, I continue to volunteer as a counsellor and crisis support worker, providing immediate support to individuals who often feel overlooked by other services. I also volunteer with Cruse Bereavement, where I provide telephone sessions to help clients explore and process their grief in a safe and supportive way.
My Qualifications
- Master of Science in Counselling Psychology (Distinction)
- Bachelor of Science with Honours in Counselling Psychology (First Class)
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
My Memberships
- Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ)
- Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Practice description
My Counselling Approach
I follow an integrative approach, which means I can draw upon a range of counselling theories and techniques to meet your needs. This is based on the belief that no single approach will work for all clients and that the most effective counselling is tailored to each person’s individual needs. While my counselling practice is grounded in the person-centred approach, it is often complemented with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other techniques when needed.
To support your progress both during and between sessions, I will often provide worksheets and factsheets designed to target your presenting concerns. These resources are designed to support you in practical ways and can be stored for you to refer to between sessions, reinforcing what we discuss and supporting your progress outside of counselling. I will also direct you to any helpful resources that provide additional information and strategies to explore outside of our time together, as this will help you to take an active part in your wellbeing.
Together, we will find the best approach for you.
My first session
Free Consultation
The Free Consultation is a 25-minute phone call where we will have the chance to get to know each other a little and explore how we might work together. I may ask you a few questions about what’s brought you to counselling, whether you’ve had counselling before, and what that experience was like for you. I will then explain how I would plan to work with you based on what you share, and we can talk about what you would like to get out of counselling, including any goals you may want to set. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions and share whatever you feel comfortable with.
There is no pressure to continue beyond the free consultation, it is simply an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and consider whether I am the right counsellor for you.
