About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Rob. At Self², I work with people who are experiencing challenging times in their lives for many different reasons. In particular, I specialise in working with people who are coping with loss and bereavement, have experienced trauma, or are going through an important transitional stage in their lives, for example a mid-life crisis. These life events can leave you feeling very anxious, depressed and alone in the world. They can also negatively impact your relationships with partners, friends and family, or open old, buried wounds from the past. There is no 'right or wrong' reason for seeking counselling. The most important thing is to reach out.
Practice description
I am a qualified integrative counsellor working in private practice. I am trained in a number of different approaches so I am able to tailor my sessions to my client's needs. I have experience working with people from all areas of life, including neurodiverse people (Autism/ ADHD), members of the LGBTQ+ community, and with all adult age ranges. Also, as an experienced bereavement counsellor, I have helped many people who have faced loss, including complex grief, traumatic bereavement and suicide.
Working with me, we will work together to form a strong, safe and respectful relationship. On the one hand, I will help you to develop skills to help you in the present, for example by regulating your emotions, accepting difficult thoughts and feelings and becoming unstuck from self-defeating patterns. At the same time, I will help you to explore your inner self at a deeper level, getting to know the parts of you that are struggling, healing old wounds and releasing painful emotions.
My first session
Before we start working together, I offer an initial 20 minute chat either online or over the phone at no charge. This will help me to understand what your needs are, what you're looking for and to find out a bit about you. It will also allow you to ask any questions you have, to see if you feel comfortable working with me and if you feel like we are a good fit. If you choose to move forward, I will send you information about your weekly appointment, a contract and a short questionnaire via email. There's no obligation and you are free to cancel therapy at anytime.
