About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Nicola, a person-centred counsellor offering in-person sessions in the centre of Stalybridge, alongside online and telephone counselling across the UK. This gives you the choice to work in the way that feels the most comfortable and accessible for you. I support young people and adults aged 18 and over.
Who do I help?
Are you lying awake at night with thoughts that won’t switch off, telling yourself you ‘should’ be coping better? Or carrying worries that feel too heavy to share? Perhaps grief or loss is leaving a gap that’s hard to fill, self-doubt is holding you back, or difficulties in relationships are leaving you drained or disconnected?
Many people are also living with a long-term health condition which affects more than your body, it can touch your confidence, sense of identity, and the way you connect with others.
I support all of the above and much more, providing a space to notice and reflect on these experiences, without pressure or judgement.
Practice description
Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure what to expect. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan, sometimes it’s enough to know that something doesn’t feel quite right. We begin wherever you are and explore what matters to you in a way that feels safe and supportive.
The way I work gives you time to reflect and express yourself at your own pace. Our sessions focus on helping you notice patterns, explore your thoughts and feelings, and make sense of what’s happening in your life. Many clients say they appreciate being able to speak openly, without needing to put on a brave face, and often find that simply saying things out loud can bring relief.
Reaching out
If you’re thinking about counselling, I offer a complimentary brief chat by phone or online. It’s an opportunity to talk about what you’re looking for and see if I feel like the right counsellor for you. You can get in touch by phone, email, or message, whichever feels easiest.
My first session
I offer an initial brief introductory phone call which gives an opportunity to find out a little more about what is going on for you, see if we ‘click’, and find out a little more in how I work.
Booked counselling sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration.
Our first counselling session gives an opportunity to to ask any questions you may have, go over practicalities, and gather a little more information to support our work together before we get underway.
I offer sessions in-person, online, and telephone, giving you the flexibility and choice in how you want to engage with therapy.
What I can help with
