About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Claire. I have a Master's in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ-registered Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor, offering compassionate, trauma-informed support.
I work extensively with adults who have experienced complex trauma, including child sexual abuse, adult sexual abuse, domestic abuse, relational wounds, bereavement, and neurodiverse conditions. Many clients find that trauma or neurodiverse experiences affect their sense of identity, relationships, and ability to feel seen or understood.
My approach is Person-Centred, which puts you at the heart of therapy. Together, we explore your experiences and focus on what matters most to you, at a pace that feels safe and manageable. I draw on a range of approaches, including Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic Therapy, to address trauma held in the body. I tailor my work to your specific, unique needs.
Safety, stabilisation, and rebuilding connections are central to the process. Together, we use the non-judgmental therapeutic relationship as a reparative space, helping you build trust, understand your challenges, and develop practical ways to cope, fostering growth and self-connection.
If you are looking for a safe, supportive, and compassionate space to explore your experiences, regain confidence, self-worth and work towards meaningful change, I would be honoured to support you on this journey.
Practice description
In my practice, you can expect a confidential, non-judgmental space, where, working in a trauma-informed way, your experiences are heard and respected.
I offer a free initial call lasting approximately 20-minute phone call for informational purposes; this is not therapy or an assessment, but an opportunity to ask questions and discuss your needs. Before starting therapy, I offer a full assessment session to explore your goals and ensure my approach is right for you. I will always try to signpost you to other services or therapists if we feel I am not the best fit for you.
Standard sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly, though frequency can be adjusted to suit your needs.
I work in private practice as well as providing bereavement counselling for the NHS, alongside working within a trauma recovery service in Dorset. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours and will do my best to find a time that works for you.
I have been a business owner for nearly two decades and understand the pressures of juggling responsibilities, stress and anxiety, which has proven to be insightful into challenges within everyday life.
My first session
I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s a new experience. Taking that first step is often a brave decision, and it’s normal to have worries about what to say when contacting a therapist. I am here to reassure you and help you feel comfortable seeking answers to your questions.
If you are ready to take the next step. Please feel free to contact me, and I will be happy to discuss your concerns. We can move at a pace that feels safe for you,
If you do decide to proceed after our initial call, I will send out a contract for you to read and ask questions. We will also have an assessment to ensure we are meeting your needs, and agree on a focus and goal of what you would like to achieve from therapy.
Therapy is to help you feel grounded and restore your sense of self-worth to help you transition and seek clarity and connection.
