About me and my therapy practice
If you are reading this, you may be struggling with difficult thoughts and feelings and unable to see a way forward. I have been there too so want to say that `there is a way through this` and `you do not need to be alone in this`.
Often our usual circle of family and friends cannot remove the feeling of stuckness or sense of isolation we may feel in our difficulties. However, by talking and thinking about your present difficulties together in a respectful, confidential and non-judgmental therapeutic space, we can find a way to create meaningful changes in your life.
You may have had counselling before or this is your first time and although it may feel daunting to open-up and talk to a counsellor, it is a courageous thing to do. In the counselling space we can reflect deeply together what has happened in your life to reach this point and in in the process find a way through it.
Practice description
As I firmly believe that the most effective way of working is face-to-face, I only work from offices in Fareham (PO16), Southampton (SO16) and Chichester (PO19).
I work in in a way which, as well as discussing what is presently troubling you, also focuses on what has happened in your life to create the present difficulties. I believe that our past experiences, particularly in early life, have shaped the way we presently experience life and they way we relate to others and to ourselves.
Many hours of counselling experience has shown me that by seeing how the past impinges on the present, we can achieve lasting change. You can bring anything that is difficult or challenging which we can explore in depth, however, you will never be asked to share anything you do not wish to. And please do not be concerned if you are fearful of not knowing what to say or that what you say is unimportant.
Having particular experience in the area of spiritual abuse, I would be extremely interested to hear from those who are experiencing difficulties or personal conflicts from religious practices and teachings.
My first session
In our first session you will have time and space to talk freely and confidentially about what is troubling you and what has brought you to counselling. You should get a good feel during this first session whether you would like to continue working together. If you choose to attend an initial session, you are not under any obligation to continue with further sessions.
You will always be in charge of what you wish to talk about and there will be no pressure to talk about issues you are not ready to discuss. If you would like to arrange an initial session please give me a call on 07356217886 or email me at kevin@mentesanatherapy.co.uk
