About me and my therapy practice

How are you feeling right now? Not earlier today, not what have you been up to, but how are you feeling now? Are you feeling more than one emotion? How do you know you feel that way? How is it showing up in your body?

What does your anxiety look like? What's the predominant narrative? What works well to soothe you? When are you at your happiest? How do you take rest and restore? What are the big fears? What are you avoiding? How has your past affected your present?- your thought patterns, behaviours, your relationship with work and your connections with others.

These are some of the questions we'll work through together to help you identify and articulate your emotions to yourself and others, set boundaries, stay present and in control in the present as you process the past and what is pressing in.

I will help you to understand and accept yourself in the present, process the past and look forward to the future.

My biggest aim is that you would leave our work together trusting yourself more, enjoying who you are and deepening your connections with others. Your story will be at the centre of our work together. I encourage curiosity and compassion as we navigate your interior landscape.

I work in a predominantly person-centred way, incorporating elements of CBT,  Internal Family Systems, Gestalt and psychodynamic approaches.

As a Christian, I'm also really comfortable with exploring and integrating elements of the Christian faith if you wish it, but I will always prioritise your agenda.

Practice description

I currently work exclusively online.

My first session

We'll spend the first session getting to know each other, covering an initial assessment and addressing presenting issues and expectations. Questions I might ask include 'what is bringing you to counselling?' 'When do you feel happiest or most like yourself?'. I usually ask about sleep, eating habits and support you're receiving from others.
