About me and my therapy practice

I offer in-person counselling for adults at my peaceful space in Bourne End. Whatever the issue, we will explore your thoughts and feelings together without pressure, helping you untangle and gain clarity. You will be heard and supported without judgement, and accepted as you are.

I have the qualifications and experience required of a counsellor, but I am also a fellow human with life experience and know how challenging it can be, so warmth and empathy are my most valuable tools.

Alongside counselling, I work with an Alzheimers & Dementia charity leading their weekly ‘Singing for Pleasure’ sessions. This involves close interaction with patients and carers through singing together and talking together over coffee. I therefore have a special interest in counselling relatives and carers of patients but I welcome people with different issues into my practice.

Prior to counselling, I worked for many years as a secondary school teacher at middle management level, involving pastoral care for both pupils and staff in the department. I then ran a 1:1 tuition service centred around confidence and wellbeing, which eventually led me to counselling.

I have helped people with many issues including anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, health concerns and struggles with self-esteem.

Being a musician and a counsellor, I especially welcome performers who struggle with confidence issues, burnout or wanting help to find their confidence and creativity.

Philosophy

I view life as a flowing river and we are all swimmers in that river, never in the same water at any point in our lives. Our surroundings may appear constant, but our circumstances, others' circumstances and our emotions change and we need to keep swimming. Sometimes we become ensnarled on obstacles on our path, other times the current overwhelms us and pulls us under. Sometimes we feel tired and unable to go on.

I aim to empower you to find your flow again, helping you find your inner resources to proceed and embrace your life.

Practice description

I practice from my peaceful, cosy and private space in Bourne End. There is ample on-street parking free of charge.

I offer a free telephone chat (up to 20 mins) where we can discuss your requirements and answer any questions you may have.

From there, you can decide if you would like to go ahead with face to face counselling and I will send you a working agreement to look at prior to our session for your approval. In our first session, we can decide on an appropriate timescale for your counselling.

I work with adults aged 18+ and older adults.
