About me and my therapy practice
Here is a little bit about me. My journey to becoming a qualified counsellor began with personal experiences. Struggling with dyslexia in school and facing significant life challenges, including loss and navigating complexed family dynamics, led me to seek therapy. Finding a supportive therapist was transformative; it helped me overcome my anxiety and build self-confidence.
Through therapy, I learned to establish healthy boundaries and make better choices. This personal experience deeply informed my approach in which the way I counsel and fuels my empathy for those struggling with similar issues.
I understand the pressure to be someone you're not and the exhaustion of meeting unrealistic expectations, placed on you by others. The constant comparison and feeling judged — 'Why can't you just be...'— is something I empathise with deeply.
I am now passionate about helping others navigate life's difficulties.
My approach to therapy is to put your mental well-being at the forefront of our work together. I work in an integrative way, showing you empathy. I will uniquely tailor sessions to suit your needs so healing can begin.
We can explore issues from your past or present that are affecting you and the relationships surrounding you. We can do this together, so you regain your confidence, improve your coping skills, manage your emotions to improve your self-esteem and take control of your life on your terms.
What’s most important in therapy is the relationship you have with your counsellor. I offer you a safe and supportive, non-judgemental environment where you can speak freely with me.
I can help you to reflect and understand how and why you feel the way you do, helping you to increase your confidence, self-awareness, and emotional well-being, and to take steps in making positive changes, improving your relationship with yourself and others.
Practice description
Taking the first step to seek help can feel daunting, but building a trusting and confidential relationship with a counsellor can be incredibly beneficial. I'm here to support you in finding your way; a good counsellor helped me through mine.
At the core of my practice is working with you in a person-centred way. I am able to combine different therapeutic styles of counselling, such as using CBT and psychodynamic therapies.
I am experienced in working with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, autism, dyslexia, depression, stress management, trauma (childhood & adult), low self-esteem, relationship challenges, abuse (verbal, sexual, physical, emotional), low mood, loss, suicide, and bereavement.
Additionally, I attend regular CPD (continued professional development) to keep up to date with my skills and knowledge; for example, some of the recent CPD trainings include Understanding Attachment Styles in Childhood, Working with the Inner Child, Working with Neurodivergence in the Therapy Room, Understanding Anxiety, Safety Techniques in Trauma, Understanding Intergenerational Trauma, and CBT Techniques to Support Clients with Excessive Worry, which have a direct impact on how we communicate and our relationships.
I offer face-to-face, online, and telephone counselling sessions. All sessions are conducted in a private and confidential space to ensure a high level of privacy, where you can talk freely in a warm, welcoming and confidential therapy room.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes. I can work with you long-term and short-term basis. Sessions are scheduled either weekly or bi-weekly or when required.
Being able to use different therapy tools allows me to work more creatively with you helping you unconsciously tap into and connect to your deeper emotions. In exploring your emotions, you will be able to better understand your triggers and how past unresolved conflicts can affect your daily life, enabling you to manage and improve your emotional well-being.
