About me and my therapy practice
Reaching out for therapy can often be a daunting task and so you should congratulate yourself, on making this first important step.
After a career in advertising and film production, I finally realised a long held ambition to enter into the field of counselling.
Many people have assisted me in my life, which helped through the bad times and I felt compelled to try and assist others in a similar situation.
After becoming an individual member of the regulating body the Íø±¬ÃÅ, I trained in Person Centred Therapy.
This approach focusses on the human being and helping clients reach their highest potential.
I give room based and online counselling and provide two types of specific Therapy:
Mental Health Counselling - As a Counsellor (Dip. Couns, MÍø±¬ÃÅ), with lived experience of mental health issues. I can offer you a safe and confidential space and I will work with you to help find a way forward.
Equine Therapy - Combined with Mental Health Counselling is a powerful combination. It encompasses a range of structured, gentle ground-based activities, with horses / ponies which can help those suffering with mental health issues.
Whether these practises are accessed together or separately they are both powerful therapies that can help clients deal with a variety of issues.
Practice description
I offer Person Centred Therapy for my online and room based clients.
This is a humanistic form of therapy, that empowers the client to take control of their mental health without judgment.
I work with the client to help them improve their self-awareness and find their purpose in life within a confidential and safe environment.
I also offer Equine Therapy, which encompasses a range of structured gentle ground-based activities, with horses / ponies which mainly take place outside.
Currently my pracice is situated on a beautifully rural animal therapy farm. in Leigh on Sea Essex.
The experiential nature of this practice is excellent for clients who do not wish to do room-based therapy.
I obtained my Equine Assisted Learning training from the LEAP organisation (ACCPH & Íø±¬ÃÅ Organisational member).
I utilise the practise of Polyvagal Theory within my therapy as well as Inner Child Therapy.
Polyvagal theory helps us understand that both branches of the vagus nerve calm the body, but they do so in different ways.
Inner child therapy is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals address unresolved emotional pain from childhood and develop self-compassion.
I am member of the Equine Polyvagal Institute.
My first session
I fully appreciate that your first move to contact a counsellor, has probably meant a lot of soul searching, before you have decided to go ahead.
I therefore suggest that initially we have a confidential and honest telephone call, so that I can understand your needs and you can assess if I may be the right person, to do my very best to offer you a correct course of counselling.
If after this exploratory call, where we get to know a little about each other - if you feel comfortable to proceed, then I will suggest that we meet on online.
With room based therapy, I offer a free online introductory session. Prices start £45.00 per session.
With Equine Therapy, I offer a 45 minute assessment session at a small farm and horse-riding establishment in Leigh on Sea Essex. The cost is £35.00.
