About me and my therapy practice
I predominantly work with a psychodynamic lens, which means I am interested in your childhood experiences and how they may have shaped your present-day life, how you defend yourself psychologically and how those defences were created. I am also interested in how we relate to one another in the room as this can often provide invaluable insight into your relationships outside the room. Examining the relationship we build during the work, in a judgement free environment, is part of what makes the therapy relationship unique and informative.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and generally takes place at the same time each week. I am able to work in both short-term formats (8-12 sessions), or longer term/open ended work.

Practice description
Asking for help can leave you feeling exposed and vulnerable, but having a warm, safe and confidential space each week to talk about what’s bothering you allows you to gain insight into your problems, increase your understanding of the life you’ve built and make meaning out of your experiences. This newfound self-awareness and introspection will equip you with the psychological tools you need to move forward.
There are many reasons an individual might present to therapy:
· You may have found yourself stuck in a recurring pattern and want to find out why.
· You may be struggling to get in touch with your emotional self and finding that it keeps manifesting in ways that are disconnected from the problem such as chronic pain, addiction, health anxiety, or self-sabotage.
· Maybe a major life event or significant change has unsettled you and you’re struggling to find your equilibrium again.
· Perhaps you’re finding that your internal world has been turned upside down by the external world we live in.
I believe in bringing your psychic and social worlds together when thinking about your problems- the way in which our social identities intersect with our environments has a huge impact on how we experience certain challenges (whether that be race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability or neurodivergence amongst other things). I welcome all people into my practice and I encourage you to think out loud about difference, both between yourself and your personal relationships, and between us within the room.
Therapy doesn’t require a specific crisis—many people seek it as a space for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of yourself or process past experiences in a judgment-free environment, therapy offers a supportive and compassionate space to explore your thoughts and emotions.
My first session
It is important that we have a short initial consultation (usually over the phone) before beginning the work. It is an opportunity for us both to see whether we might work well together and for us to set out the terms of our work.
Once a date/time has been agreed, I will email you an information sheet with details of a practical nature such as payments, breaks, missed sessions etc.
I would also request your GPs details in case of any safeguarding concerns during the work.
