About me and my therapy practice
We all experience difficulties and challenges in life. Reaching out for support is a brave first step towards taking back some control and sharing that burden. I can offer a warm, non-judgemental space where we can work together towards gaining an insight into what you are experiencing. This often includes looking at how we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us. By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, based on trust, we can work to understand what you seek from therapy and make changes to support your wellbeing. For me, counselling is not about fixing problems but changing your understanding and view of the problem, finding meaning in adversity and ultimately enabling you to work towards living in a way that you find more satisfying.Practice description
I am an integratively trained counsellor, which allows me to draw from a range of perspectives and theories in order to meet your specific needs. I work from a relational perspective with an understanding of the multi-layered dynamic of human experience. There is no one size fits all! My style aims to be non-directive and collaborative, working at your own pace to meet your needs. I have a specific interest in supporting clients with complex health concerns and the impact of difficult diagnoses, particularly cancer. I also have experience working with bereavement, neurodiversity, health anxiety, aging and menopause. I previously worked as a teacher and youth mentor in a range of educational settings.
My first session
I work face to face from therapy rooms in Bagshot and Guildford and can also offer remote counselling via Zoom. I offer an initial no obligation, free of charge 20 minute online or phone call to assess our suitability to work together. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable with your chosen therapist. Our first session would include a discussion around the issues you’d like to work on and an outline of how I work - and of course an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
