About me and my therapy practice

I understand what it means to be where you are now, and that your life may leave you feeling overwhelmed with thoughts of the past or anxiety and uncertainty about the future. Let me offer you some hope; change is possible.

Maybe you are suffering from low self-esteem, exhaustion, and struggling to cope. You may have unresolved past experiences or trauma including domestic abuse which can be both physical and emotional. Perhaps you have a sense of panic about life, debilitating stress about work or family. When we struggle with something difficult, we often feel unhappy, confused, anxious or overwhelmed, leaving us feeling stuck and unsure of where to start or what to do.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 20 years working as a nurse in the NHS, an experience that taught me so much about compassion, resilience, and the importance of being truly heard. I bring a deep understanding of the emotional, psychological and physical challenges people face and the resilience it takes to navigate them. I have also worked for various charities, helping people with a variety of challenges

I'm trained to work with a broad range of psychological health challenges including; anxiety, panic attacks, depression, insomnia, overwhelming feelings, trauma, low self-worth and confidence and loss and bereavement, to name but a few. I offer a range of therapeutic techniques to best support your individual needs with a compassionate yet gently challenging approach to help you make meaningful, lasting change. My approach is grounded in compassion, warmth, and without judgement, creating a safe space where you can explore and work through your challenges.

I will give you the tools, skills, and approaches to achieve your therapy goals in a safe space where you are firmly in the centre of our therapeutic relationship. Please get in touch for an informal chat or to find out a little more about me and my approach, Louise.

Practice description

My approach is very much an integrated one. Whatever you may come to see me with, I will work with you as a person rather than a list of symptoms.

The most common reasons people consult me are Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression,  Relationship Issues,  Low self-esteem, Fear of failure,  Emotional and Sexual abuse, Past Trauma, Stress, and exhaustion.

However, often people have more complex problems in which aspects of the issues listed may be a feature. And sometimes, people just feel stuck, that their life is not where they want it to be, and talking through things in a focused way with a trained professional can help gain clarity on what needs to change.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ), I follow a set of ethical principles and guidelines that underpin my practice. I maintain and enhance the quality of my work through regular supervision and continued professional development.

I work flexibly in a way that is tailored to you.  With warmth, compassion and without judgement, I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.  Whatever you are facing, we will work through it together, with me alongside you every step of the way.
