About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Maria, a qualified counsellor offering a calm, supportive space where you can explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-worth, trauma, grief, or feeling stuck in repeating patterns, I’ll work alongside you with warmth and curiosity, supporting you to make sense of things in a way that feels right for you.

Practice description

I work integratively, with a person-centred foundation, and I’m informed by the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM)—a trauma-informed approach that combines both cognitive and body-based awareness.

Rather than retelling what happened in the past, NARM gently brings focus to how those early experiences may still be shaping the way you relate to yourself, others, and the world today. Together, we explore patterns like shame, self-criticism or emotional disconnection, not to pathologise, but to understand them as ways you learned to protect yourself.

We work with the present moment, creating space for clarity, connection, and new choices to emerge at your own pace.

My first session

Our first session can take place either online or face to face, depending on what feels most comfortable for you. My aim is to create a safe and welcoming space where you can begin to explore what’s bringing you to therapy at your own pace, and without pressure.

I’ll ask some gentle questions to help us get a sense of what feels most important to you right now and what you’re hoping for from our work together. You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. Many people come in feeling unsure, stuck, or overwhelmed, and that’s completely okay.

You’re always in charge of what you share, and we go at your pace. The first session is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and whether it feels like a good fit for you. There’s no obligation to continue, and I’ll support you in whatever decision you make.
