About me and my therapy practice
As a neurodivergent counsellor, I understand how living with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition, Aphantasia, or other neurodiverse experiences can shape daily life. My work is focused on supporting adults who want to feel heard, understood, and accepted, without judgement.
I use an integrative approach to counselling, combining person-centred therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT. In practice, this means our sessions are led by you: sometimes we’ll explore your past, sometimes we’ll focus on practical tools to make life a little easier, and always we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.
Counselling with me isn’t about being given advice, it’s about having a safe space to explore who you are, what you’re going through, and what that means for you. My role is to listen, reflect, and support you in finding clarity, confidence, and ways of moving forward.
Practice description
As a neurodivergent counsellor with both professional training and lived experience of ADHD, Aphantasia, and Autism, I offer a truly neuro-affirming approach. I understand that coming into counselling as a neurodivergent person can bring unique needs, and I aim to make the process as comfortable as possible.
In our first session, we’ll work together to create a space that feels safe and supportive for you. This might include small but important adjustments like where you sit in the room, whether the lighting can be brighter or softer, or if you’d like a clock in view. You’re always welcome to bring fidget toys, comfort items, or anything else that helps you feel more at ease.
To help minimise distractions and keep the focus fully on you, I kindly ask that phones are put on silent and kept aside during the session.
My goal is to provide a counselling space where you can feel accepted, understood, and free to be yourself.
My first session
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share what’s brought you to counselling. You’ll also have space to ask any questions about how the process works, so you feel clear and comfortable from the start.
As part of this session, we’ll go through a short questionnaire covering some practical details ike contact information and GP details, as well as a simple assessment to understand how things like low mood or anxiety may be affecting your daily life.
We’ll also talk through our counselling agreement (sometimes called a contract), which explains how the sessions work and what you can expect from the service. This helps create a safe, supportive, and transparent space for your journey.
