Availability

I am available to see clients between Monday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

I am available in person and online via Zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime, telephone sessions, and walk-and-talk therapy.

Please feel free to ask about a twenty-minute online or telephone consultation to discuss your situation.

This will be a brief twenty-minute talk about what you hope to gain from working with a professional, what you would like to aim or achieve, and whether I am the right counsellor to help you. This isn't a full session but an opportunity to ask questions and determine the next steps.

Please note that everything you share with me will be treated confidentially.

I offer a few spaces at a reduced price, so please feel free to ask me about that.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello. A warm welcome.

I am a qualified, registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ).

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor who draws on three complementary and reinforcing theories: Person-centered, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis.

I experience myself as being warm, friendly, approachable and reliable. I value being genuine, sincere, accountable and dependable. I have personal life experiences that I hope will inform and enhance my work to be more helpful.

Life can be challenging, especially when we tend to overanalyse and suppress our thoughts out of concern for overwhelming others.

We frequently strive to understand the complexities of our circumstances, reflect on past experiences, or determine our future path.

We struggle to see a path forward, losing touch with our identity, needs, and what truly matters to us. Occasionally, our experiences can become emotionally and mentally overwhelming, and searching for relief and resolution feels difficult and impossible.

Counselling offers an opportunity to reflect on and explore one's interactions with the world around us. It is a safe space to explore one's experiences, feelings, thoughts, beliefs, values, fears and losses.

It involves allowing yourself the time and space to discover a path forward, whether through cultivating self-belief, making resolutions, taking action, or practising and inviting acceptance. Ultimately, this process can empower you and foster a deeper awareness of yourself, your purpose, and your needs.

This moment allows you to implement the changes you've long wanted and break free from negative habits and patterns.

I am here to help you make sense of your experiences, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and uncover valuable insights and resolutions.

I will support you in increasing self-awareness and building resilience, helping you make improved choices and lead a more positive and fulfilling life.

Practice description

As a humanistic counsellor, theory and practice influence my work. I approach counselling with an integrative framework, which allows me to be flexible and adaptable, tailoring my approach to meet my client's unique and diverse needs.

What suits one person doesn't necessarily work for another. I am committed to finding the right approach or a combination of approaches to suit you.

Empathy, respect, genuineness, and developing trust with your counsellor are at the heart of a therapeutic relationship.

I try to understand and recognise your unique experience, life, relationships with yourself and others, and the world around you.

Here, I can support you as we explore the problems and issues that have been challenging for you in a non-judgmental, safe, and confidential environment, giving you time to explore, express and reflect on the difficulties you may be experiencing.

It is a protected time for you and me to work together on areas of your life that are causing you concern or making you feel out of balance.

Most of my training and work as a counsellor has involved really learning to listen to people, hearing the 'feelings' behind their words, and sensing their profound feelings of hurt, happiness and fears. My experience is that when someone is really 'heard' in this way, therapeutic healing can occur.

I appreciate the diverse values and beliefs that each person brings to our counselling sessions. Working with clients from diverse family, social, ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds means that the sessions are also tailored to each person's individual needs.

As a registered member of Íø±¬ÃÅ and to ensure that I work ethically, safely, and professionally, I have a supervisor with whom I meet fortnightly to discuss my counselling work practice.

I have been fortunate to have received positive feedback from clients on how their lives have improved.

My first session

I want to learn about you. I appreciate choosing the right counsellor to explore and express difficult thoughts and feelings, which may feel daunting.

At the heart of my counselling approach is my core belief that establishing a connection with your counsellor is essential.

Research indicates that the most significant factor influencing the success of your treatment is your relationship with your counsellor. The feeling of being genuinely 'heard and understood' and, equally important, building trust with your counsellor so you can speak openly is at the heart of the therapeutic relationship.

If you decide to proceed, we will schedule a 60-minute weekly counselling session. I am willing to work with you for as few or as many sessions as we agree are appropriate.

Your aims will be reviewed as the counselling sessions progress to determine whether the counselling is working for you.

We can discuss and adjust the frequency to better suit your needs. Some clients choose to meet every week, while others might prefer to reduce the frequency of the counselling as they progress to the end.

You are under no obligation and can end the counselling at any time, as it is really what feels right for you.
