About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Sam, an HCPC and Íø±¬ÃÅ-accredited Art Psychotherapist. I hold a Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy and a diploma in Ecotherapy. Since qualifying in 2010, I have worked with children, young people and adults who are struggling with their mental health. My experience includes working with primary and secondary schools, pupil referral units, mental health services, and charities.

I trained as an Ecotherapist in 2017. My practice encompasses working with individuals in both studio settings and, when possible, outdoors in nature.

I like to recognise myself as part of nature rather than separate above it. My journey is ongoing, exploring my place within the ecosystem in a way that is respectful and mutually beneficial. For my wellbeing, I have discovered the importance of art making, mindfulness and compassion practices and time spent in nature. I love to share these practices with others.

Practice description

My approach to therapy is entirely client-centred. You don’t need to be an artist—just come with an open mind, and we can explore new ways to express yourself together. There is no pressure and I’ll work with you at your own pace, making the process comfortable and enjoyable.

My goal is to help you navigate those tough thoughts and feelings while getting to know your inner world. I believe in reducing shame and building self-compassion, so you can find more joy and freedom in your life. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

What to Expect in the Therapy Process

**Initial free 15-Minute Chat**: so you can see if I am right for you.

**Consultation**: During our 1-hour session, we'll talk about what’s on your mind, your goals, and I’ll explain how I work to make sure you feel comfortable.

**Contract**: If you would like to move forward, we’ll sign some agreements to get started, along with information that will help me get to know you better.

**Weekly Session**: We’ll meet at the same time and day each week to keep the momentum going. I invite you to share your expectations and concerns for our sessions. You control the pace and can explore the room and materials if you find it hard to express yourself.

**Review**: Together, we’ll regularly check in on how things are going and make sure we’re heading in the right direction.

I'm here to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment for us to work together. My aim is for you to feel understood, empowered, and in charge of your own therapeutic journey.
