About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor with a person-centred approach at the core of my practice. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming space for individuals, with a special focus on addiction and LGBTQ+ clients and those navigating issues related to addiction,  chemsex, sexual health, identity, relationships, and mental well-being.  I work with all genders, sexuality and relationship types.

With extensive experience working within LGBTQ+ communities, I understand the unique challenges that can arise, including stigma, shame, addiction, and the complexities of intimacy and connection. My approach integrates various therapeutic modalities, including, CBT, TA, GSRD and mindfulness techniques, to tailor support to each individual's needs. However, my foundation remains person-centred鈥攅nsuring that therapy is led by you, at your pace, in a space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered.

Whether you are exploring your identity, seeking support around chemsex and substance use, or working through personal challenges, I am here to offer compassionate, confidential, and professional support. My aim is to help you foster self-acceptance, resilience, and meaningful change in a way that aligns with your values and experiences.

Practice description

Chemsex

Chemsex can bring complex emotional, psychological, and relational challenges, including shame, dependency, intimacy difficulties, and identity concerns. Drawing from my own lived experience, I offer a compassionate and informed space to help you make sense of your experiences, explore patterns of behaviour, and regain a sense of control and self-acceptance.

LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ individuals often navigate challenges such as identity exploration, coming out, relationships, discrimination, self-acceptance, and mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, or trauma. As a gay man growing up in the 1980鈥檚 with Section 28 and the AIDS Epidemic as my backdrop, I too have experienced all of these challenges. I provide a compassionate and informed space where you can explore these experiences freely, without fear of stigma or misunderstanding.

Work/Life Balance

Drawing from my own corporate experience, I work in supporting professionals seeking to achieve a healthier work-life balance. In today鈥檚 fast-paced world, the demands of work can often overshadow personal well-being, leading to stress, burnout, and a sense of disconnection from what truly matters. My role is to provide a confidential, supportive space where you can explore these challenges and develop practical strategies for a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Setting Healthy Boundaries

Setting healthy boundaries is an essential part of emotional well-being.. Boundaries help define where you end and others begin鈥攖hey protect your mental health, foster respect in relationships, and promote a strong sense of self.

For many individuals, past experiences with rejection, discrimination, or identity invalidation can make it difficult to say 鈥渘o鈥 or to assert personal needs. Y Setting boundaries isn鈥檛 about pushing people away鈥攊t鈥檚 about honouring your own values, space, and comfort.

My first session

You may have found your way here through a recommendation or perhaps via an online search. Whatever the route, I encourage you not to choose a counsellor simply because theirs is the first profile you came across or because their qualifications and profile appear impressive.

Finding the right counsellor is a personal process, and it鈥檚 important to take time to consider what truly matters to you. Does the counsellor鈥檚 age, sexuality or gender feel important to you? Are you looking for someone with a specific background or expertise in particular areas, such as LGBTQ+ support, addiction ,  or something else

Counsellors are as individual as the people we work with. With so many different qualifications, professional memberships, directories, and websites, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to make a choice. You might find it helpful to consider both how a therapist presents themselves and how you feel when reading their words, alongside their training and experience.

Ultimately, the therapeutic relationship is key 鈥 and that begins with finding someone you feel safe with, heard by, and comfortable working alongside. Why not book in for a free 15-minute introductory session to see if we are the perfect fit for your therapeutic journey.
