Practice description
I am a qualified humanistic psychotherapist and hold an MSc in Creative Psychotherapy at distinction level. I have broad experience with adults, children and young people, offenders, refugees and veterans. I practice from an integrative framework, drawing on psychotherapeutic philosophies such as solution focused therapy, emotion focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), while primarily grounding my work in a person-centred, trauma informed lens. These approaches might also promote discussions of practical ideas/'solutions', shifting perspectives, and educational opportunities- dependent on what is most relevant to your needs.
My areas of focus include:
Anxiety and Depression
Low Self Esteem
Relationship Difficulties
Bereavement and Grief
Work-related Burnout and Stress
Substance Misuse
Childhood Trauma
Self-Identity
As part of my practice, I may offer creative means to reinforce ones self expression- though are always offered as an invitation and never as an expectation. I am mindful of the social constructs around creativity and aim to create opportunities for clients to engage in self expression that feels authentic to them. My approach to creativity rests on process-orientation rather than product-driven, using creativity as a tool for reflection and discovery, not performance.
The heart of my practice is grounded in the belief that you are the expert of your experience. My role is not to direct the trajectory of the sessions, but to nurture ones understanding of their experience. In addition to this, we may collaboratively explore strategies and perspectives to support your sense of growth. Within sessions, my aim it to provide both a therapeutic holding - a safe, consistent space- and an environment that supports healing and deeper self connection.
