About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I believe we are shaped by our past and present relationships and work in a relational way with clients to explore what it is they find a struggle.
I believe we are all capable of navigating our way through the difficult times in our lives with the right support.
I believe relationships affect how we view ourselves, others and our environment. I build therapeutic relationships with clients built on trust, authenticity and open communication.
I provide clients with a safe and confidential space to look at their thoughts, feelings, relational patterns and experiences. Together we explore issues from the past that may be affecting their present.
Many clients come to therapy questioning why what has worked for them in the past no longer works for them now. Together we discover why, enabling clients to gain new understandings and make meaningful long-term change.
I believe that we all hold the solutions within ourselves and work collaboratively with clients to find them.
Practice description
I believe the key to successful therapy is to establish a supportive and collaborative working relationship. I aim to do this by actively listening to my clients getting to know them, and understand what brings them to therapy, helping them to discover their own answers and the best ways forward.
I combine techniques from several evidence based therapeutic approaches to tailor bespoke treatment plans that address the unique lived experiences of individual clients. I use Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural, Narrative and Somatic therapies with a focus on assisting clients to reach their goals and achieve meaningful, long-lasting change.
My first session
Our first session would be about exploring the challenges which may have contributed to you seeking therapy at this time. We will talk about the ways in which I may be able to help and work with you. An important part of the first session is also to decide if we both feel we can work together. If we agree to moving forward together we will make a plan of what may be best suited for you and this will depend on the nature of what you may be seeking therapy for. I do not ask clients to commit to a certain number of sessions but this is something we would regularly talk about and review in an open and honest way.
