About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced integrative counsellor. I offer a warm and empathic space free from judgement where you can explore the issues that have led you to look for therapy.
As an Integrative therapist, I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches. I draw upon a variety of ideas and techniques, and adapt them to you as we get to know each other and work together. We will go at your pace. My role is to guide and support you on your journey.
I have supported clients to get through challenges in their lives such as:
- struggles with change and life transitions
- feeling overwhelmed
- feeling stuck in relationship patterns that no longer serve them
- coping with loss and bereavement
- working through anxiety and depression
Practice description
My approach is always client-led. It’s important that you feel heard and understood. I pay particular attention to your experience of therapy and how we are working together. Together we can look what might be getting in the way of what you want from life. As our work progresses, you may want to explore how past experiences are affecting you now or keep the focus more on current situations – either way, clients find that therapy can bring about real, positive change.
I see clients for 50 minute sessions, usually on a weekly basis. I offer both short (6-12 sessions) and longer term therapy depending on your needs and goals. We can discuss what works best for you when we first meet.
I have worked in a range of counselling services offering both long-term counselling and shorter bereavement-focussed counselling. Outside of my private practice I work at a local bereavement service. I am an accredited practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss and hold their Infertility and Rainbow Baby Specialist certificates. I regularly undertake professional development.
My first session
It is completely normal to feel a bit anxious or worried about starting therapy. I understand this. I offer a free, no obligation 15-minute phone call so you can get a feel of whether I might be the right therapist for you. I will explain how I work and you can tell me about what has brought you to counselling and what you are looking for from therapy. You can also ask any questions you may have.
If you choose to go ahead, we would arrange an initial session together where we would explore in more detail what has brought you to therapy and how we will work together to meet your needs and goals. There is no obligation to continue with therapy after this first session. Should you choose to do so we would arrange a regular time to meet once a week. Sessions last 50 minutes.
