Alongside my private practice, I also work within a CAMHS-commissioned service, providing solution-focused, short-term low intensity CBT to young people aged 8 and above. This support is aimed at those experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Social Anxiety, and Panic Disorder.
I am passionate about integrating mindfulness-based approaches into my work, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
From a holistic and spiritual standpoint, I practise Reiki, use crystals therapeutically, and can incorporate creative elements like oracle cards and working with the elements, seasonal cycles, and moon phases to help explore alternative perspectives. These holistic options can be woven into your therapy if you wish, or omitted, based on your preferences.
About me and my therapy practice
My name is Cat, and I warmly welcome you to Clear Quartz Counselling & Holistic Wellbeing. As an experienced Integrative Counsellor and low intensity CBT Psychotherapist, I’ve provided therapeutic support to both children and adults for over twenty years. My professional background encompasses a variety of roles, including family support, youth justice, public health, prisons, and NHS Talking Therapies.
During my time working within NHS Talking Therapies, I frequently witnessed the frustrations of clients seeking greater connection, more time to process, and deeper therapeutic engagement than the existing model could offer. These experiences inspired me to create a private practice where therapy is tailored to you, allowing us to work at your pace and focus on what truly matters in your life.
I recognise the significance of having someone trustworthy to confide in when faced with the difficulties of everyday life. I also appreciate how daunting it can be to take that first step towards counselling. Throughout our lives, most of us encounter challenges such as stress, anxiety, grief, depression, work and financial concerns, family and relationship issues, isolation, and loneliness, among others.
At times, we may find ourselves in circumstances that feel insurmountable or experience a sense of being stuck, unsure how to move forward. Life can become overwhelming, challenging, or even frightening, and it is not always possible or easy to discuss these concerns with family or friends.
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment where you can safely explore difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. With empathy, warmth, and compassion, I will support you as you process challenging feelings and navigate everyday struggles, helping you to find clarity and understanding.
Through this journey, you will gain deeper insight into your own authenticity, self-knowledge, and self-awareness, paving the way for inner change, personal growth, and development.

My first session
On request, I provide a complimentary 15-minute introductory call, which offers an opportunity to discuss what you hope to achieve from counselling. During this conversation, we can explore how we might work together and assess whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Our first session will begin with an assessment, where we will explore your current circumstances and any events—past or present—that have led you to seek counselling at this time. Together, we will clarify what you would like to gain from our sessions, helping to shape the direction of our work moving forward.
We'll explore whether you'd like to incorporate holistic, creative or spiritual tools in our work, or whether you'd prefer a traditional therapeutic approach.
We may complete routine outcome measure questionnaires to highlight specific areas you might want to focus on. Drawing from my experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy, I can support you with goal setting, using CBT formulation. Alternatively, if you prefer a non-directive approach, I can work integratively and at a gentler pace to suit your needs.
Depending on your preferences, psychoeducation may be a key component of our sessions, supporting the development of neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to learn and adapt. My objective is for you to leave sessions feeling equipped and confident to use the techniques and tools we discuss, supporting your mental wellbeing long term. Psychoeducational materials may include handouts, worksheets, audio files and journal prompts, all designed to encourage therapeutic change.
I offer a flexible approach to how often and how many sessions you attend, with both short-term and long-term counselling available, depending on what suits you best. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, usually at the same day and time. We will regularly review our sessions, reflecting on your therapeutic goals and acknowledging the progress and changes you have achieved.

My fees for Integrative Counselling and low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are £60 per session. Concessionary rates are available in some cases; please contact me directly for further information.
As an experienced Integrative Counsellor and low intensity CBT Psychotherapist, I've provided therapeutic support to both children and adults for over twenty years.
