About me and my therapy practice

Hi I'm Jo, I am here to support you on your journey towards emotional wellbeing and personal growth. I'm able to support people with anxiety, relationship issues, low self esteem and attachment issues and also work with clients who are struggling with depression, loss and grief and suicidal thoughts.

I use Person Centred and Somatic approaches which means that I work on the basis of what you decide bring to each session with compassion and non judgement and I may also work with bodily experiencing as a way to help to regulate the nervous system when thoughts and emotions feel overwhelming.

Central to my way of working is to build a place of safety so that you feel comfortable enough to open up and talk about your issues and concerns without feeling judged.

Practice description

Session to be held online or by telephone only.

My first session

I offer free 20 minute consultations as an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little. I can let you know how I like to work and you can decide if this might feel like a fit for you. It may also be a chance for you to tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy.

After that, our first full 50 minute session will be an assessment session where I ask you questions such as 'what has brought you to therapy? ' and 'if you have had therapy before, what worked for you and what didn't?' It's an opportunity for you to share what you feel happy to share and for me to gather information to understand what the focus of further sessions might be.

All sessions are 50 minutes long and cost £70.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Relationship Therapist specialising working online with couples.

Perhaps your relationship has changed since having children, or trust needs rebuilding after an infidelity. Are you struggling with conflict or feel your needs are not being met? Committing to couples therapy can help you better understand each other and move towards meaningful change.

I will work with you both to address any relationship challenges you’re facing. By observing and listening to your interactions, encouraging you to connect to each other during the session, and supporting you in developing healthy communication strategies, I aim to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourselves and each other.

Every relationship has its own unique dynamic, shaped by childhood and family influences, gender and sexuality, religion and cultural norms. I offer a safe and compassionate space that respects and honours your individuality.

Therapy can be a place to uncover stuck patterns of behaviour, shed light onto parts of yourself and each other that have been hidden, and provide a neutral space where you can both speak and really be heard.

All sessions are held online and are 1 hour long.

Practice description

Each session is 1 hour in duration.

During our sessions, I like to work with what you both decide you need fro therapy. Initially I will ask you a lot of questions for me to further understand your situation, so that we can form a plan of how we will work going forwards.

As your insight grows and you realise the changes that are needed to repair, if appropriate I may ask you to think of things you can do outside of the sessions that will help you reach your goals. We can use the sessions to explore how those additions worked or didn't work and tweak them accordingly.

My job is to listen without judgement, invite strategies tailored to your unique relationship dynamic, support you without my own agenda and allow for both parties to feel fully heard and understood.

My first session

In our very first session, I will ask you a few questions such as 'what has brought you to therapy?' If you have had therapy before 'what worked and what didn't?', ' Why now?' and gain some information about each of your histories and how you first met.  It's a chance for us to start to get to know each other and I can begin to build a picture of the issues you are facing.

As its an assessment session I charge a discount for this first session which will cost £50.

Initial sessions thereafter will build on from there as we find our flow. Having someone neutral to notice your relationship dynamics and guide you to healthier ways of relating can lead to profound changes in your realationship.
