About me and my therapy practice
A very warm welcome.
I am a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and hold a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My background is working in perinatal mental health, bereavement, trauma, domestic abuse and I have over 20 years of experience working within the Early Years.
From my own experience, I understand that reaching out and going to therapy can often be a big and daunting step. Therefore, creating a trusting relationship that gives you the support, trust, and safety you need is central to the way I work. My approach is warm, compassionate, and supportive of your individual needs, helping you to feel seen, heard, and understood.
My approach as an Integrative Therapist means recognising and sensitively working with what you need. No two people have the same needs. Integrative Therapy is flexible and personalised to you, combining different therapeutic techniques to meet your unique needs. Instead of using one strict method, I pull from various therapies based on what will best support you at any given time. This allows us to tailor the therapy process to your goals, experiences, and preferences.
Practice description
Sessions are either 50 minutes face-to-face/online or 60 minutes Walk and Talk in the Devon countryside.
My practice is predominantly person-centred, but I combine this with working psychodynamically. Integrative therapy provides a well-rounded, holistic approach that can adapt to where you are in your journey. We will work together to find the right combination of tools to support your emotional and mental well-being by creating an environment where you feel physically and emotionally safe. Therapy is a place where you are in control of the process. I won’t ever rush or push you to talk about anything before you’re ready.
Perinatal Sessions
Being a new mum can be an incredibly challenging time; we can often feel judgement, lonely, have expectations of ourselves and from society that pregnancy and motherhood should feel a certain way. We can have a whole number of questions – Why is being a new parent not what I expected? Why haven’t I bonded with my baby? Why do I feel so sad? Does my baby like me? Why does my baby cry all the time? Am I doing it right?
I can work with you to explore both conscious and unconscious factors within your relationship with your baby. Often these factors are influenced by our own experience of our own childhood and how we were parented. We may often want to replicate these experiences or feel we want our baby to have better experiences than we had. By understanding how our own experiences influence the unique ways in which you and your little one interact, you will be able to begin strengthening and growing that vital bond between you.
Walk and Talk
Walk and Talk Therapy gives the opportunity to take sessions out into nature. Studies show that being in out in natural green space can be very beneficial to our mental health and well being. Walk and Talk Therapy can be beneficial for anyone, especially for those who struggle being face to face in a therapy room.
