About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor with a strong background in psychology and psychotherapy, specialising in eating disorders - particularly in binge eating, emotional eating, weight loss challenges and body image.
For over 40 years I turned to food for comfort, stress relief and to avoid emotions I did not want to process. That journey also included years spent in gyms trying to counterbalance the effects of overeating.
Today, I offer both therapy and coaching to support lasting weight loss. I make sure that we aim to join 5% of people who do not regain the weight. I spent the best of my life in this battle, so that you don't have to.
Practice description
I believe therapy builds the foundation for lasting change. It offers the space to explore what’s beneath the surface - your patterns, emotions, and belief before jumping into solutions. That’s why I don’t offer coaching instead of therapy. I begin with therapeutic work and, if it feels appropriate, continue with coaching.
You may already be partway through your journey. Perhaps you’ve had therapy before, or worked with a coach, fitness trainer and now feel ready to deepen the work or shift direction. Maybe you’re nearing the end of your Mounjaro journey and worried the weight might creep back. Or perhaps the side effects were too much, and you’re considering trying again. I can meet you there too - with empathy, structure, and a plan that fits where you are now. Maybe you are PT and do not have a weight issue, but never lived in peace with your body image or food. I work with these challenges too.
My approach is collaborative and grounded. I work with people who feel stuck in cycles they don’t fully understand - especially around food, emotions, and self-worth. Together, we explore what’s happening, why it’s happening, and how to move forward. I integrate psychological insight with lived experience, offering a space that is both compassionate and practical.
Whether you’re just beginning or returning to this work, I’ll meet you with curiosity, care, and a commitment to helping you reconnect with yourself. I've been there myself. I get it.
