About me and my therapy practice
I offer person-centred counselling sessions in a welcoming and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels right. Being able to provide high levels of empathy, understanding, and respect is deeply important to me and ensures that a strong, trusting and safe relationship can be built between us.
You may be looking to make sense of difficult experiences or trauma, to achieve greater self-awareness and emotional wellbeing or be looking to explore parts of your identity. We will work together through any difficulties to find ways to help you feel more confident moving forwards.
Sessions are held in a quiet confidential space in Lancaster and can be face-to-face, on the telephone or via secure online sessions should this feel a better fit.
Practice description
I work with issues around identity and gender, emotional issues and self-esteem and with neurodiversity. I am a gay parent and recognise and respect the many different ways of being in relationships and the importance of having space to carve out a path through this world. I have experience working within the queer community for a local LGBTQIA+ charity and worked at a residential therapeutic community for those recovering from addiction.
I have a background in teaching and currently work for a local charity offering counselling services in schools to children and young people as well as offering private counselling sessions for all ages in Lancaster.
I am a fully Registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and work within their ethical framework. I offer both short and long term work and I hold a degree in Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My first session
If you are interested in working with me, please contact me via email and we can book in an initial call to discuss how we might work together. I provide a free 20 minute online meeting or phone call for us to get to know each other, discuss any previous experiences of therapy and address any questions you may have about the process. This gives us time to consider if working together feels right for us both before committing to a first session. Usually we would start with weekly sessions and evaluate what is working on a regular basis to suit your needs.
