About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you're used to coping alone, putting on a brave face, or pushing through when things feel difficult. Many of the people I work with arrive in therapy feeling emotionally tired, stuck, or unsure of who they are anymore. Sometimes it’s clear what’s wrong; sometimes it’s more of a quiet sense that something just isn’t right. Whatever brings you here, you’re welcome to show up exactly as you are.
You don’t need to have all the words or a clear plan to begin. There’s no pressure to open up all at once. Instead, we begin where you are, and take the time to explore things at a pace that feels manageable. My role is to listen with care, reflect with you, and gently support you in making sense of what’s been going on so you can feel more grounded in yourself and more in touch with what matters to you.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I don’t follow a fixed method or expect you to fit into one particular way of working. I draw from a range of therapeutic ideas and tools to shape the sessions around what feels most helpful for you. This includes elements from more structured approaches, such as exploring patterns of thought and behaviour that may be keeping you stuck, as well as more person-centred ways of working that focus on being alongside you with curiosity, warmth, and respect.
I also draw on somatic and trauma-informed approaches, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and emotion regulation tools, depending on what feels most helpful for you. Together, we might explore how past experiences have shaped how you relate to yourself or others, strengthen boundaries or self-trust, or work with emotions that feel hard to name or manage.
Whether you’re looking for short-term support or something more long-term, we’ll keep the process collaborative, checking in as we go and shaping the work around what feels most important and supportive to you.
Practice description
I work with adults from a range of backgrounds who are navigating emotional or relational struggles. These might include low self-esteem, anxiety, shame, burnout, or feelings of disconnection from yourself, your values, or the people around you. You might be using coping strategies that no longer serve you, feeling overwhelmed or easily triggered, or finding it hard to set boundaries or trust yourself. You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to seek support, feeling that something isn’t quite right is reason enough.
I also support people who’ve found therapy difficult in the past, or who haven’t felt fully understood by services, professionals, or those around them. My practice is inclusive and trauma-aware, and I aim to offer a grounded and flexible space where you don’t have to explain everything at once or fit into any boxes.
Alongside private practice, my experience includes working in mental health charities, addiction services, crisis helplines, and frontline roles supporting individuals with complex emotional needs. I have particular experience supporting people living with or exploring a diagnosis of BPD/EUPD.
I offer sessions online, by phone, and in person at a therapy space in Cardiff. You’re welcome to come weekly or fortnightly depending on what feels right. I work both short-term and long-term depending on your needs.
Whether you’re looking for clarity, emotional regulation, connection, or simply a space to be heard and understood, I’d be glad to meet you where you are.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute discovery call before we begin working together. This is a gentle starting point, a chance for us both to get a feel for one another and for you to ask any questions you might have. We can talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and whether it feels like the right fit. There’s no obligation to book a session afterwards, and you’re welcome to take time to decide. Just reach out via email or phone and we can arrange a time that suits you.
If you do decide to go ahead, your first full session is a space to begin exploring what’s been going on for you in more depth. You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. Some people arrive with a clear sense of what they want to talk about; others are less sure and just know something isn’t quite right. Either is completely fine. We’ll begin wherever feels most comfortable for you.
Ahead of our first session, I’ll send you a short intake form and counselling agreement so you know what to expect and can come feeling informed and supported.
If you’re considering therapy and something here resonates, you’re very welcome to get in touch. Whether you’re feeling ready to start or just want to ask a few questions, I’m here to listen and help you take the next step when the time feels right.
