About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Thrive Training and Resources Centre (ThriveTRC), I am Dr Maryam Alrasbi; a former GP, a medical and healthcare educator and a therapist. I am the founder and director of ThriveTRC; a UK-based centre committed to providing expert, warm, professional, and culturally attuned care. My psychotherapy services are available in English and in Arabic.
I am a qualified psychotherapist with a background in medicine, medical and healthcare education, and trauma-informed practice.
I offer individual (one-to-one) counselling to adults. My therapeutic approach is pluralistic — meaning I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-centred approach and Trauma phased therapy depending on what best suits your unique needs and preferences at any given time.
Whether you're navigating depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, psychological trauma, relationship challenges, caring fatigue, identity struggles, emotional regulation difficulties, or the impact of neurodiversity, I offer a collaborative and compassionate service to support you.
Together, we’ll explore what matters to you, understand the patterns affecting your wellbeing, and work towards meaningful thrive — at your own pace.
I also offer group therapy to adults. My pluralistic approach allows me to adapt to the needs of the group and integrate strategies that are most helpful for participants.
Group therapy offers a powerful opportunity to learn from shared experiences in a safe, and professionally facilitated setting. Group work can provide both connection and growth in diverse areas.
Together, we create a space where each person’s voice is heard, progress is respected, and change unfolds in a manageable manner.

Practice description
I offer individual counselling sessions through Thrive TRC. You can expect a respectful and supportive space where therapeutic relationship is built gradually and your voice remains central. Sessions are structured yet flexible, balancing reflection with practical tools that promote real nurture.
My sessions are delivered online which allows you to access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own place, and each session lasts for one hour.
I understand however, that some clients prefer phone counselling for a range of reasons. I fully respect this, and I’m happy to offer sessions by phone — whether that's as a starting point with the aim to move online, a blend of both formats, or an ongoing preference to stay on the phone. I offer both long term and short term sessions.
I offer group therapy sessions through Thrive TRC too. You can expect a respectful and supportive group environment where every participant is warmly welcomed and encouraged to engage without pressure.
Each group session is thoughtfully designed to balance guided structured techniques with room for reflection, personal exploration, and shared dialogue. Groups are small and facilitated in a manner that offers an inviting environment to explore your experiences, gain new perspectives, and learn practical tools. Whether or not you're seeking connection with others, group therapy can help you build emotional insight and benefit from others' journeys — all at your own comfort level, and what feels right for you. Each group has a clear theme or therapeutic focus and is held with care and cultural sensitivity.
All group sessions are delivered online which makes them accessible from your own private and calming setting. Session lengths may vary depending on the group's focus, typically ranging from 90 to 120 minutes.
Some clients choose to keep their camera off during group therapy for various reasons. This preference is fully respected and accommodated to help you feel at ease.
My first session
The first session, whether you're seeking individual or group therapy, is a gentle starting point. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore what brings you to therapy, and begin to understand what you’re hoping to gain from the process. I will ask some guiding questions and invite you to complete a brief intake form with me to help shape our conversation. There’s no pressure to share more than what feels comfortable — we will proceed in a way that feels safe and manageable for you.
If you're considering joining a group, this initial one-to-one session also allows us to explore whether the group’s focus, format, and pace align with your needs and preferences. We’ll go over the structure, theme, and ground rules of the group to ensure that the environment will feel appropriate for you.
The first session lasts for one hour and is charged at the standard rate. If you're unsure whether therapy with me is the right fit, I also offer a free 15-minute online or phone consultation to answer your questions and discuss how I work before committing.
You're welcome to reach out whenever you feel it's time to start. At Thrive TRC; Together, we thrive.

Thrive TRC specialises in delivering high-quality, tailored training for both individuals and organisations across the fields of medicine, psychotherapy, mental health, education and management. As well as practice enhancement, we look after professionals’ own mental and emotional wellbeing.
As a medical doctor, I strongly believe in the importance of continuing professional development across all medical and healthcare professions. As a psychotherapist, I am a strong believer in the power and efficacy of talking therapies, the body-mind connection, and the transformative potential of counselling. Our ultimate goal is helping individuals and the wider community improve from surviving to thriving.
In addition to staff training, we facilitate engaging and informative sessions for community members on mental and emotional health.
We also provide individual and group counselling sessions.
