About me and my therapy practice

Coming to therapy for the first time can be a daunting prospect, but I would like to assure you that I will provide you with a safe and non-judgemental space to enable you to relax and begin the therapeutic journey which takes the direction you want and need from it.

Sometimes it is not until we step back and are provided with the right conditions that we can begin to join the pieces together which may be from our past or present and then move forward with a renewed understanding of ourselves. We can then work together to instil a plan to empower you to make meaningful changes which have the capacity to be transformational.

I am dual qualified as a Counsellor (Íø±¬ÃÅ registered member) and coaching professional (chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). I have an integrative approach which means that as well as drawing on various psychology methodology (person-centred, CBT, psycho-dynamic), I also combine therapeutic coaching.

Using an integrative approach, allows me to draw on the best therapeutic method at any given time in your journey to enable you to explore those issues and obstructions to you moving forward, then using a therapeutic coaching approach to nurture and bring about personal growth.

Practice description

I have a particular interest on working with life transitions.

Young people - teenage into adult (11-30 years)

I am passionate about providing young people with the understanding of their world as they see it, and to provide a warm and supportive environment for them to express their worries and work through their concerns and issues without fear of judgment. By doing this I aim to help them to understand their feelings and develop their resilience and adaptability to life’s inevitable ups and downs.

Non neurotypical presentations

I work with neurodivergent clients, offering a thoughtful and considered space and therapy process. Whether dealing with undiagnosed conditions or adjusting to a diagnosis, I can help you to navigate these experiences with understanding and support.

Women

Antenatal: The transition to motherhood can be overwhelming and isolating. The conflicting emotions which can arise can be disorientating and can produce unexpected feelings of fear, shame and inadequacy, to name just a few.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to enable you to process these emotions and build self-acceptance, confidence, and resilience.

Menstrual Issues: Many women face intense psychological challenges related to menstruation that impact their daily lives. I can provide a space to express those feelings and emotions to enable you to be understood and supported.

Menopause: Menopause often brings anxiety, panic, and a feeling of losing oneself. I help women to understand the emotional impact of this hormonal shift. I can help you to navigate this transition with greater confidence, resilience and hope. To enable you to see menopause as not a time of loss, but as an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery.

Older Adults

As individuals transition into later life, they may struggle with loss of identity, chronic illness, or retirement. Therapy can help explore how past experiences affect the present, and together, we can discover new possibilities for a fulfilling future.

My first session

Initial consultation

I offer a free-of-charge, no obligation 15-minute telephone consultation. This will enable me to understand what you are hoping to achieve from therapy and how I can support you with this. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have at this stage. From this you can then decide if you would like to proceed with therapy and if yes, we can book in a time for the first session which will include a more in-depth assessment (50 mins). I will also send you some paperwork to complete to support our first session.

Our first session

Our first session will enable us to get to know each other and work out what you would like to achieve from therapy. The therapeutic process is user-centred and therefore I will be guided by you and your needs.

We will also complete an assessment which provides some background information, which could be helpful and relevant to your therapeutic journey.

If you are happy to proceed with further sessions, we can then find a mutually convenient time to begin.
