About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Carly.
I am a level 6 integrative counsellor (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) with a neuro-affirmative private practice in Hythe, Kent. I am committed to providing an inclusive space that embraces all ways of thinking and feeling.
In a world in which we are increasingly disconnected from ourselves and others, there has never been a more important time to prioritise your well-being. Humans are not meant to be alone. We want to be connected both with ourselves and to others. Whether you are struggling with a personal crisis, managing a difficult life transition, or wanting to pro-actively work on personal growth, I am here to support you in reconnecting with yourself and embracing your potential for positive change.
Practice description
My approach
I am passionate about the body-mind connection, and I am committed to embracing the diversity in our individual experiences. I use an embodied approach to trauma, which means I work with the body to deepen healing, connect the body with the mind and increase self-awareness. Together, we will re-discover your inner wisdom, understand your personal experience and connect these with evidence-based counselling interventions and mindfulness techniques where appropriate to enhance your self-awareness and your relationship with yourself.
People work with therapists for a variety of reasons; all of which are unique to the individual. I will personalize therapy to meet your specific needs and I will work at your pace. I am trained in several approaches to therapy including relational, person-centered, existential, psychodynamic, and cognitive.
My philosophy
I believe that all humans have within them a natural capacity for positive change. Sometimes when we are faced with overwhelming stress and stuckness, we can lose sight of our inner strength and wisdom. Your counselling sessions are a private space for you to freely process your thoughts and feelings. My mission is to share a space in which you feel comfortable to bring all aspects of yourself to counselling
You are the only person who truly knows how you are thinking and feeling. I will be guided by how you understand yourself and the world around you, with a focus on integrity, empathy, and compassion. Whilst I cannot give you advice or tell you what to do, I can work in a flexible way and tailor therapy to your needs. Together, we will discover your inner resources, find new ways of coping, and explore your relationship with yourself and others. This flexible and personalized approach lends itself to sustainable growth and meaningful positive change.
My first session
Your first therapy session is an opportunity to share what brings you to therapy, and what you are hoping to get from our time together. We will look at how we can work together, in a way that is meaningful for you.
We will also use our first session to discuss confidentiality, answer your questions, and clarify any concerns you may have about therapy.
All counselling sessions are 50-minutes.
I work in an open-ended manner, which means that you decide for how long you wish to be in therapy. So long as it is effective and beneficial for you, we can continue to work together.
