About me and my therapy practice
Space to explore the root cause of struggles, learn some coping strategies and start to change the script.
Life gets complex sometimes and we all need a bit of time and help to work out what we need and how to give it to ourselves.
Most of the clients I work with come to me because they are struggling with anxiety, depression or a big life transition like bereavement, feeling stuck or hopeless, relationship issues or career challenges. Sometimes my clients are also struggling with maladaptive coping strategies which could be things from drinking problem, disordered eating or self harm.
Therapy can be a really supporting space if you feel like you're playing small, not living to your full potential, procrastinating, fearing the future or struggling with low self esteem.
My therapy room is conveniently located a 10 minute walk from Kingston station. I also work online..
I'm a qualified therapist, I've been through my own journey to becoming a better self and I have years of experience helping adults, teens and children find hope in hopeless times.
Practice description
My name is Claire, I’m a qualified Íø±¬ÃÅ counsellor. I’ve have a face to face private practice in Kingston (10min walk from Kingston Station). I also work online via Google meets.
I work with adults, young people and teenagers. I meet with most clients once a week. Sessions are 50mins long.
I offer open ended therapy, for some people 6 sessions is enough, others choose to continue support for as long as needed.
I draw on a number of different techniques and approaches. Clients set the pace and agenda. Together we find a 'north star'… a sort of goal that helps to guide the work and enables us to identify when we’ve reached a place that carries meaning. It’s often about exploring what is lacking or what you’d like more of in your life (for example more joy, confidence, connection, creativity or peace).
For some clients our sessions are about working through immediate coping strategies:
o Ways to cope with panic attacks and difficult emotions
o Working with nightmares & flashbacks
o Managing additions or negative thought loops
For others it’s about talking through and processing past or present struggles:
o Mourning losses - the childhood that never was or grieving the loss of a satisfying life or relationship.
o Or processing the loss of joy, creativity, dreams for the future.
Sometimes therapy is about bringing in creative ways of moving through ‘stuckness’ or breaking out of dysfunctions patterns.
