About me and my therapy practice
About me and my practice
Hello. I’m Cerrie (they/them), and I offer online person-centred counselling through New Horizons. This space invites neurodivergent adults to explore their experiences with honesty, care, and at their own pace.
As a neurodivergent counsellor myself, I know how exhausting and disorienting it can feel to mask or to move through the world in ways that don’t feel natural. You might be diagnosed, self-identifying, or still questioning, whatever your starting point, you are welcome here.
My practice is grounded in the belief that every person, given the right environment, has the capacity to grow and flourish. That environment is built on trust, empathy, and acceptance. I work alongside you, never ahead of you or pushing you, creating a space where you can come as you are and begin to reconnect with what it means to be fully and freely yourself.
Practice description
What you can expect from me
You can expect a calm, flexible, and non-judgemental space, somewhere you don’t need to perform, explain, or hide parts of yourself. I work in a way that is trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming, and deeply respectful of difference.
Together, we’ll create a space that meets your needs, not someone else’s idea of what therapy should look like. That might mean using everyday language, working with metaphors, adjusting pace, or simply having permission to sit in silence. I welcome all forms of communication, spoken, written, felt, or shaped over time.
My approach is gentle and non-directive. I won’t interpret or analyse you. Instead, I’ll walk beside you as you uncover your own insights, build self-understanding, and explore what matters most to you. I’m here to support your process, not shape it.
My first session
What a session looks like
Our sessions are 50 minutes long and take place online, offering both structure and flexibility. You can bring whatever feels important, overwhelming, unclear, or even hard to name. There’s no expectation to be a certain way or to have things ‘figured out’.
Some sessions might feel reflective, others more practical, and both are valid. We go at a pace that feels right for you, honouring your capacity and energy in each moment.
To help you decide if we’re a good fit, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. This gives us space to meet, ask questions, and check if working together feels comfortable and supportive for you. It’s really important that you feel safe and seen, and I’ll support you to make the choice that’s right for you, even if that means I’m not the right counsellor at this time.
