About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ana and I’m an integrative therapist with experience working with trauma and abuse. My background is in the charity sector, working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual abuse of all genders. My clients to-date have varied in age and come from diverse backgrounds. I have supported them through trauma, loss and bereavement, anxiety and depression, anger, shame, suicidality and self-harm, disordered eating and body image issues, and relationship difficulties including issues around sex, sexuality and intimacy.

My approach is trauma-informed. This means I acknowledge and understand the pervasive nature and impact of trauma on a person’s life. My practice is centred on creating a safe, containing and supportive space in which you can feel heard and validated. Together, we can start to explore the impact of your experiences at a pace you feel comfortable, looking at how you’ve coped so far to help you rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.

My therapeutic style is empathic, relational and non-judgmental. I see you as the expert in your own life, and will work alongside you by providing support, honesty, compassion and understanding to help you make sense of your experiences and move forward in an authentic way.

In our sessions, I will be interested to hear about your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships, and how you view yourself and the world around you. It can be helpful to explore your past to help us understand your present experiences in order to help you gain insight and find more fulfilling ways of relating to others and yourself. As a relational therapist, I believe that the way we relate to others and ourselves is central to understanding and overcoming the challenges you may be facing, so we will focus on the relationships in your life, including the one we will build together in therapy.

Practice description

My therapeutic approach is an integration of person-centred and psychodynamic ideas, but as an integrative counsellor I draw upon different models to create a unique style tailored to your needs.  I often include elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Trauma-Informed Stabilisation Treatment (TIST) in my work with clients, which can support exploring different parts of yourself and building safety and stability when processing difficult experiences.

As a member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ my practice is governed by our ethical framework, ensuring that I am always working to promote your wellbeing with respect for your dignity as a human being at the forefront of my mind.

My practice is inclusive and collaborative, and I welcome clients from a range of backgrounds and identities. I strive to practice in a culturally sensitive way, understanding and respecting your unique background, beliefs and values, and allowing space for you to explore how your intersecting identities might have shaped your life experiences.

I am committed to making therapy accessible, actively working to break down barriers that might exist for my clients. Concessionary rates may be available.

I offer therapy sessions both in English and in Portuguese, face to face (East London) and online.

My first session

I offer an initial free 15 min telephone consultation which will give you an opportunity to get a sense of my approach, therapeutic style and how we might work together.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ana, an integrative therapist with experience working with individuals and couples through trauma, loss, and relationship difficulties. My background is in the charity sector, supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse of all genders, but my clients come from diverse backgrounds and stages of life, seeking support for trauma, anxiety and depression, anger, shame, grief, self-esteem, and difficulties in relationships and intimacy.

My approach is trauma-informed and relational. This means I understand that our past experiences — particularly those involving loss, neglect or trauma — shape how we connect, communicate and respond to others. My practice centres on creating a safe, compassionate space where you can begin to feel heard and validated, and where we can explore the impact of your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

Relationships can bring connection, joy, and support — but they can also stir up old wounds, expose our vulnerabilities, and leave us feeling stuck in repeating patterns. In couples therapy, I offer a space for both partners to explore their relationship with honesty and curiosity, supported by a neutral and compassionate presence. Together, we can look at the patterns that play out between you, rebuild trust, and develop ways to express your needs and emotions safely and constructively.

My therapeutic style is empathic, collaborative and non-judgmental. I see you as the expert in your own life and will work alongside you with honesty, curiosity and compassion. Whether you come to therapy alone or with a partner, my aim is to help you understand yourself and your relationships more deeply, so that you can make meaningful choices and move forward with greater clarity and connection.

Practice description

My therapeutic approach integrates person-centred and psychodynamic ideas, allowing for flexibility depending on your needs as an individual or as a couple. I often draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Trauma-Informed Stabilisation Treatment (TIST), which help to explore the different parts of yourself and to build emotional safety and stability when processing difficult experiences.

In couples work, I draw on relational and attachment-based perspectives to help you understand how your histories shape your connection today. Many of the challenges couples face — whether around communication, intimacy, or trust — arise from earlier patterns of relating. Together, we can explore these patterns with curiosity, compassion, and honesty, learning to recognise when you are caught in cycles of conflict or disconnection and finding new, more supportive ways of engaging with each other.

Some of the areas I support couples with include:

– Communication difficulties and cycles of conflict.

– Rebuilding emotional closeness and intimacy.

– Navigating the impact of trauma, attachment patterns and life stressors on the relationship.

– Coping with life transitions such as parenthood or loss.

– Understanding and working with different attachment styles.

My practice is inclusive, collaborative and culturally sensitive. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities, and I aim to hold a space where your unique experiences, beliefs and values are acknowledged and respected. As a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ, I work within its ethical framework to ensure that your wellbeing and dignity are always at the forefront of my practice.

I offer sessions in English and Portuguese, both online and face to face in East London. Concessionary rates may be available.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute online consultation for both partners, so you can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide whether it feels like a good fit.

If you decide to begin therapy, our first session will usually be together. This helps me understand what brings you both to therapy, what you each hope for, and how you experience your relationship. Sometimes, I may suggest an individual session with each partner before we continue joint work — this can offer space to share more personal experiences and ensure that each of you feels supported and heard from the start.

Couples sessions are a space to slow down and explore what happens between you — the patterns, emotions and meanings that shape your relationship. We might look at how past experiences or fears show up in your interactions, or how you can communicate more effectively and rebuild trust and connection.

My role is not to take sides or decide the future of your relationship, but to help you understand one another more deeply and make choices from a place of clarity rather than reactivity. Together, we can explore:

– The patterns that keep you stuck.

– How to express needs and emotions safely and honestly.

– How to listen and respond to each other with greater empathy.

– How to create space to make decisions about your relationship with understanding and care.

I aim to create a compassionate, balanced space where both partners feel heard and understood, and where the work we do together supports you in finding more secure and fulfilling ways of relating.
