About me and my therapy practice
Are you an adult adoptee seeking to understand yourself more deeply?
You may feel a lingering sense of disconnection 鈥 from your identity, your emotions, or your past. Perhaps there鈥檚 an underlying fear of abandonment or a feeling that you鈥檙e not 鈥渆nough鈥, no matter how hard you try. You鈥檙e not alone in this.
I specialise in working with adult adoptees who want to explore how adoption has shaped their lives 鈥 their relationships, their self-worth, and their ability to express emotions. As an adoptee myself, I bring both personal insight and professional experience to our work together, offering a space that is grounded, relational, and trauma-informed.
Much of my work is with women navigating these challenges in midlife, but I welcome adult adoptees of all ages and backgrounds.
Practice description
My approach is relational and integrative, with a foundation in trauma-informed practice and adoption-aware support. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can bring all parts of your story 鈥 even the ones you鈥檝e had to hide or minimise.
Together, we can explore:
Your sense of identity and belonging
Emotional patterns that may feel overwhelming or hard to express
The impact of early separation or attachment trauma
Feelings of shame, guilt, or invisibility around your adoption experience
Ways to improve relationships and strengthen self-trust
I work collaboratively with each client, tailoring the support to your needs. I believe that healing unfolds through connection 鈥 when we feel truly seen and heard, change becomes possible.
I hold an MA in Integrative Counselling and have completed additional training in adoption-related issues. I offer sessions on an open-ended or time-limited basis, typically meeting weekly, but I鈥檓 happy to discuss what rhythm feels right for you.
If anything here resonates, I invite you to get in touch. Therapy doesn鈥檛 have to be overwhelming 鈥 it鈥檚 simply a space where you can begin to listen more deeply to yourself. I鈥檓 here to walk alongside you.
We can work together in person or online or a combination of the two.
My first session
I know that starting therapy can feel daunting and it can be hard to find someone to trust. It is therefore so important to find the therapist that feels right for you.
To see if that could be me, you can find out more about me by visiting my website (www.lynnearnshawcounselling.co.uk), emailing or giving me a call.
I offer a free 15 minute introductory call where we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have, explore your individual needs and how we might work together and see if it feels like we would be a good fit.
