About me and my therapy practice
Have you ever felt the ungrounded feeling that can come from not having clear biological roots? Perhaps you might sometimes feel a deep disconnect as if something essential is missing from your life. If you struggle with fears of abandonment that impact your relationships or if you often feel out of place and question your value in the world, you are not alone. Many people also find their feelings minimised leaving them feeling misunderstood. It’s completely natural to experience feelings of shame or guilt when wanting to explore your heritage or roots.
As an adoptee, I understand firsthand the complex emotions and challenges of this journey. My own experiences have shaped not only my personal life but also my professional work as a counsellor. I have walked a similar path and know how isolating it can sometimes feel.
I deeply connect with individuals navigating journeys like yours, offering a perspective built on empathy and insight, and recognising that each person’s story and experience is unique. With an MA in Integrative Counselling and specialised training in adoption support, I have dedicated myself to understanding these complexities more deeply.
Through our work together, you can gain greater self-awareness and develop a more secure sense of your authentic self. We can address feelings of not belonging and abandonment and work on building effective coping mechanisms to enhance your relationships. Therapy can play a significant role in rebuilding your self-worth and affirming your inherent value and self-respect.
Practice description
In my practice I approach your experience with compassion and care, understanding that the emotions surrounding adoption are complex. My journey has reinforced the profound importance of self-discovery, emotional healing and nurturing meaningful connections. I am here to help you uncover the layers of your experiences, in a safe, non-judgemental environment where you can explore your feelings at your own pace. Together we will work collaboratively to tailor the support that meets your individual needs, fostering a sense of empowerment and confidence as you navigate your challenges.
I offer a flexible approach and can work with you on an open-ended basis or for a specifically agreed-upon period. While I typically recommend weekly sessions to create consistency and routine, we can discuss what works best for you when we begin our journey together. I’m here for you every step of the way.
We can work together in person or online or a combination of the two.
My first session
I know that starting therapy can feel daunting and it can be hard to find someone to trust. It is therefore so important to find the therapist that feels right for you.
To see if that could be me, you can find out more about me by visiting my website (www.lynnearnshawcounselling.co.uk), emailing or giving me a call.
I offer a free 15 minute introductory call where we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have, explore your individual needs and how we might work together and see if it feels like we would be a good fit.
