About me and my therapy practice
I am Nour Norris, an OBE-awarded psychotherapist, recognised in the King’s Honours List for my work in preventing violence against women and girls and for my dedication to supporting survivors of trauma and abuse. My therapeutic practice is rooted in over a decade of working with individuals and families affected by trauma, including domestic abuse, coercive control, honour-based violence, childhood trauma, and loss.
We all go through challenges in life, and I am here to help you overcome those difficulties. Whether you're facing the effects of trauma, relationship struggles, loss, or mental health challenges, I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions and work towards healing.
I am an integrative psychotherapist, offering both long- and short-term therapy. My approach draws on psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT, and trauma-informed frameworks to tailor sessions to your unique needs. I also offer CBT as a structured approach for managing anxiety, depression, phobias, and behavioural difficulties. In addition to individual therapy, I offer couple therapy, especially for partners navigating relational conflict or abuse.
I work in both English and Arabic, supporting individuals and couples from a range of cultural and religious backgrounds. My practice, Nour Norris Limited, is based in Birmingham, offering in-person and online sessions.
Beyond therapy, I am the founder of SecureLife, through which I train professionals, therapists, and police forces in recognising and responding to abuse. My advocacy work has helped shape national policies, including the implementation of Raneem’s Law.
I believe in therapy’s power to foster resilience, growth, and meaningful change. If you’re ready to take the first step, I’m here to support you.
Practice description
My practice is located in a peaceful and welcoming centre in the heart of Birmingham city centre. The therapy room is thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable and confidential space to feel safe and supported during sessions.
The centre is conveniently situated close to major transport links, including Birmingham Moor Street Station and central bus routes, making it easily accessible by public transport or car.
I take great care to ensure that my clients feel at ease from the moment they arrive, offering a calming and supportive environment to help you on your journey toward healing and growth.
Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes for individual clients and 90 minutes for couples therapy. I offer both short-term therapies for focused goals and long-term, open-ended therapy for deeper exploration. My practice is inclusive and tailored to support individuals dealing with a wide range of issues, including:
Trauma and loss
depression/ Anxiety
Domestic abuse
Neurodiversity-related challenges
Severe mental health conditions such as psychosis and schizophrenia
My first session
I offer an initial 15-minute phone consultation free of charge. This allows us to discuss your needs and determine if we are a good fit to work together.
If we decide to proceed, the first session will be an assessment. During this session, I will get to know you, gather some essential information, and work with you to outline the goals for your therapy journey. This initial session sets the foundation for our work together, ensuring that your sessions are tailored to your specific needs and aspirations.
Please note that all sessions must be paid in advance to confirm your appointment.
