My working hours are Monday to Friday, usually between 9am-7pm. I offer in-person, online (Zoom), and telephone call sessions. If you are not comfortable with being on camera, we can discuss this for further options.
We can work short- and longer-term, and can regularly review this together to ensure you are getting the support you are looking for.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Cheyenne (she/they). I am a person-centred therapist and counsellor. My therapeutic approach values you as a whole person, welcoming you and every part of you, exactly as you are. I believe everyone is trying their best with what their current situation and prior experiences allow.
We all have unique lived experiences, influenced by relationships, socio-economic contexts and social dynamics. I recognise the impact caused by individual and collective attitudes creating stigma, trauma and discrimination - whether in regards to sexuality, gender, relationship styles, race, class, age, neurodivergence, disabilities, chronic health issues, body image, and other forms of marginalization and oppression. These factors can all impact our overall sense of Self, wellbeing and health.
I strive to cultivate a therapeutic space that feels accessible, inclusive, and ‘safe-enough’ for you to reconnect with yourself and explore whatever is going on for you - whether this is about yourself, relationships or wider concerns about the state of the world. Having someone alongside you can make a big difference in facing challenges and building a relationship to different parts of yourself and your experiences.
As your ally and psychotherapist, I will support you in navigating through your own diverse experiences with the aim of helping you feel more empowered in your life.
On a more personal note:
My background qualifications are in psychology, transpersonal psychology, spirituality, and mindfulness. I am currently undertaking additional training in integrative somatic trauma therapy.
I am curious about the value of nature on our mental health, and welcome therapeutic explorations on individual and collective experiences linked to concerns around the state of the world, such as eco-grief, climate-anxiety, and social injustices.
Practice description
I see therapy as a collaborative process in which we can explore whatever is happening in your life right now, as well as how past experiences might impact you in the present. We can look at sensitive issues, behaviors, emotions, limiting beliefs, relationship dynamics and more, helping you develop a greater understanding and acceptance of yourself.
I provide a confidential, non-judgmental and ‘safe-enough’ space to support you in feeling heard, seen and held throughout this process. At the core of my person-centred approach, I value that everyone has different needs which can fluctuate and change at different times. I will not follow a specific agenda, instead we will go at your own pace and tailor each session in a way that feels most suited to you.
To process our emotions and experiences, I strongly believe that we can also benefit from learning how to feel our emotions more safely in our body and nervous system. I offer to gently bring attention to how body and mind interact, inviting clients to notice and explore sensations with curiosity - if desired and appropriate. I recognise not everyone feels safe in their body and it may not always feel accessible so don't worry: this is your space, and we create it in whichever way feels right and available to you.
If you would like to explore aspects of your process with creativity, I welcome you to bring anything that feels supportive in expressing yourself, including music, writing, etc. Art materials will be provided.
Accessibility
My current practice space is not accessible by wheelchair. There are a few steps before reaching a lift. My room is central and convenient to get to by public transport. The room is quiet, with warm soft lights (no bright overheads) and little clutter. Please let me know about any accessibility needs you have.
My first session
If you are interested in working together, I will offer you a free 15-30 minutes consultation call via phone or Zoom, during which we can get to know each other a little, get a sense if we are the right fit, and explore how we could work together. You can ask me questions and I will go over some practicalities with you.
You do not have to decide during the call whether you would like to work together. If and once you decide to go ahead, we can then schedule our first session.
