Availability
I work on a flexible basis, offering the following options:
1) A set session per week, paid for on the day. My practice is open 6 days a week, and I offer a variety of slots including evenings and Sunday afternoons. I do not work regular Saturdays.
2) A subscription style service that enables you, the client, to choose session times that work for you each week/month. This can include short notice and intensive sessions. Discounted rates are offered for payment in advance for 4 sessions per month.
3) Intensive "weekend workshops" for couples work and ASC/ADHD coaching. There is a limited number of these available each month and these take place on a Saturday and Sunday daytime only.
Adopting this style of working has proven particularly helpful for clients who work shifts, students and education professionals, people who are neurodivergent, and those who just prefer to manage their own therapy calendar according to their own availability and therapeutic need.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Casey 鈥 so nice to have you read my profile!
Whoever you are, whatever you are bringing 鈥 you can be yourself with me. I offer a non-judgmental, warm, and safe environment to explore life鈥檚 challenges.
Many psychological crises occur when we feel lost, invalidated, hurt and/or confused. My philosophy for both therapeutic counselling and coaching centres around acceptance, validation, and collaboration. You are the 鈥淪herlock Holmes鈥 in the therapeutic relationship, and I am your 鈥淒r Watson鈥 (Spinelli, 2007). Stylistically, we would call this therapeutic approach 鈥減luralistic鈥 鈥 working together, honestly, and equitably with the overarching themes of safety, inclusivity, and temperance.
Some clients prefer having time to process and work on specific things in between sessions, ready to discuss at the next session. Some need more directive or solution-focussed approaches from me. Others need lots of validation and nurture to support and challenge maladaptive attachment processes. I adapt according to your needs.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I can offer more than just empathy and unconditional positive regard 鈥 I have actual lived experience. This means that you don鈥檛 need to keep repeating informational context about what it is like being part of this community, I have lived it. This frees up much more time for actual therapy work, instead of you needing to educate your therapist first (with all the emotional labour that entails) before they can support you.
Practice description
My hybrid practice operates in the following ways:
1) In person - both in my therapy office and outdoors in nature (outdoors can be either with or without my trusty canine associate, Agnes)
2) Online via TEAMs or Zoom
3) Via telephone - either regular cellular or FaceTime (for iPhones)
Sessions can be one of these options only or a combination of 2 or all 3.
Professionally, I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapist (Advanced Diploma), with an additional MSc in Psychology. I am midway through a PhD in Psychology, specifically examining neurodivergence and therapy. I am a member of both the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (网爆门) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have been working as an ASC/ADHD Coach for both children and adults for over 15 years and have over 3 years' of psychotherapy experience including ACEs (adverse childhood experiences), anxiety, attachment, education, families, health challenges, identity, LGBTQ+, neurodivergence, relationship breakdown, shame, stress and trauma.
My first session
First contact might be via email or I also offer an initial "Discovery Call" - which is usually around 20-40 mins and can be on the telephone or on Zoom/TEAMs.
Therapy begins from our very first agreed session together. However, in the first few minutes, I will just require some discussion around contracting with a quick form to sign, as per 网爆门 Ethical Guidance. If you are under 18, your parent or significant adult will sign this on your behalf.
This is so that we both understand how the therapy might work, the expectations of us both and also, you can offer any specific requirements or adjustments that you might have or that you would like me to take into account. Inclusivity and accessibility is at the heart of my practice, and so this is an open invitation throughout your therapy time with me - I recognise that sometimes we feel differently about what we need in any given moment. We keep open communication about your accessibility needs throughout our work together, not just in the first session.
