About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Elaine, and I support adults and adolescents (11+) explore their thoughts, and emotions to discover new perspectives and options. Because having someone to guide you in a safe, friendly space (that鈥檚 me!) really can make all the difference. I have a special interest in supporting men, who often face unique barriers to seeking help. Providing empathetic, dedicated support to work through those challenges is at the heart of what I do.

Who I Work With
Over the years, I鈥檝e supported clients from age 8 to 80 in a variety of counselling organisations. I have over 30 years of experience working specifically with children and young people, and I鈥檝e also trained and worked with JustB as a bereavement support worker.
Life experience also plays a big part in the work I do. As someone who鈥檚 raised a family, moved around the globe, worked within the education system for decades, cared for loved ones, and experienced personal grief鈥擨 understand how life鈥檚 transitions can affect us in many different ways.
I鈥檝e seen how grief, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm show up differently for each person. That鈥檚 why I take the time to see things from my client's perspective鈥攏ot my own鈥攁nd offer support that鈥檚 thoughtful, respectful, and without judgment, no matter your background or situation.
How I Can Help
Clients come to me with a wide range of issues, including:
Relationship or family communication struggles
Exam stress or work-related anxiety
Feeling unsafe
Eating disorders
Grief and loss of a loved one
Together, we explore your current coping strategies, help you better understand your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, and gently work toward positive change. This space is yours鈥攖o reflect, explore, and begin to feel more like you again.
My first session
If you鈥檙e wondering what a therapy session will be like, don鈥檛 worry ..... you don鈥檛 have to have everything figured out. The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. I鈥檒l listen to you to help understand your concerns ..... together we鈥檒l discuss and identify your goals for therapy. It鈥檚 not about "getting it perfect", it鈥檚 about starting the conversation and getting to know each other.. Many people feel relief from just talking to me and having someone to listen and understand them. That鈥檚 often the first step toward feeling better. Plus, it鈥檚 completely okay to take things at your own pace ..... there鈥檚 no pressure to open up all at once.

What Therapy With Me Looks Like
If you鈥檙e wondering what a therapy session will be like鈥攄on鈥檛 worry. You don鈥檛 need to have everything figured out.
The first session is about getting to know each other. I鈥檒l listen to you and begin to understand what鈥檚 been going on. Together, we鈥檒l explore what you鈥檇 like to get from therapy鈥攖here鈥檚 no pressure to open up all at once. Many people say they feel relief just from being heard and understood.
This is a space where you can take things at your own pace. There鈥檚 no 鈥減erfect鈥 way to do therapy鈥攊t starts with a conversation.
