About me and my therapy practice
Hi im Nik, and I work with people aged 14 to adulthood who are experiencing a range of difficulties including parent and child miscommunication, breakdown of marriage or family unit and the short/long term effects of these life changes, such as anxiety, depression, low self confidence and low self esteem.
I have witnessed in my professional work how young people are forgotten about, or go unheard in the process of divorce or separation. Equally, I have worked with parents who struggle to reconnect with their children or to support their child during difficult times. I am passionate about healing the barrier between parent and child, recognising the importance of their relationship.
I bring both professional experience and knowledge but first and foremost, I bring lived experience—I’ve felt relationship and family breakdowns, experienced years of anxiety, trauma from situations that were outside of my control, and I know what it’s like to rebuild from the inside out - including self esteem, anxiety, depression and low self confidence.
My background in wellness coaching and adult counselling, combined with extensive experience of working with young people (ages 11–21) in education and community settings, gives me a deep understanding of the challenges that come for both parents and young people whilst finding your way through difficult circumstances. The experiences we carry, and the behaviours we’ve learned along the way, can have a powerful influence on how we live and relate to the world around us now.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, lost or simply need a space to be heard without judgement, I’m here to support you, challenge you and help you to work towards living your life feeling happier and healthier
Practice description
I work with an open, genuine and sometimes challenging outlook with your needs at the forefront of our work together. We can work verbally, creatively or within a structured framework, with free movement between the approaches, depending on your needs which will be discussed at assessment.
I am qualified in Humanistic Gestalt Counselling and have completed my degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have experience and additional training in working within neurodiversity and am passionate about making counselling accessible to all.
My first session
I offer a free, no obligation assessment session, which can be done online or in person. This usually takes between 20-30 minutes and this session is an opportunity for us to initially discuss your reasons for wanting counselling, as well as getting to know whether you feel that I am the right fit for you.
I will send through some basic information forms to you on first contact via email, to save time within your assessment appointment. All of which is held in line with GDPR.
