About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, my names Tom. I’m a Íø±¬ÃÅ Registered Counsellor based out of Bournemouth, Dorset and I offer local Face to Face Counselling, or Online and Telephone Counselling to clients based anywhere within the UK. I work within a Humanistic Integrative Approach and I aim to help you to find own answers and to make decisions, choices and changes that align with your values and beliefs. I will provide a therapeutic relationship that's authentic, understanding and non-judgmental, where we can process and explore your unique thoughts, feelings and experiences together.

How I can help

I’m able to work with a range of problems, issues & difficulties. For example, if an experience or trauma is hindering you from living your life how you want to, we can process and work through this together. If you’re struggling to manage anxiety, we can work on increasing your self-awareness and understanding of what’s causing it and develop coping strategies to help. If you’re struggling with the relationships in your life and finding yourself in the same situations but not knowing why, we could work together to make connections and recognise patterns so you have the choice to do things differently. Or if you’re struggling with low self-esteem and lacking confidence, we can explore where this might come from, challenge what's causing it, and work on developing greater self-confidence and self-acceptance.

Practice description

I’ve worked with a wide age range of clients and am able to work with a range of problems, issues and difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-confidence, bereavement and more. I’m an Autism-Informed counsellor and have additional training in working therapeutically with neurodivergent clients, with Autism and ADHD being key areas of my continuous professional development and training. This means I have a good general understanding of neurodiversity differences and how this may impact the way someone might view, experience and interact with the world. I can therefore appreciate and support with the unique challenges and difficulties that you might face. Such as masking, heightened anxiety, sensory overload, meltdowns, shutdown and burnout. I can also support clients with a range of thoughts, feelings and emotions that may come up both before, during and post diagnosis. Whether this be feelings of imposter syndrome, coming to terms with your diagnosis and struggling with self-acceptance, or reevaluating your entire life from a new perspective.

Face to Face Counselling is £50 per 50-minute session and Online or Telephone Counselling is £40 per 50-minute sessions. Sessions will usually take place on a weekly basis; however, duration and frequency of sessions can be adjusted to suit personal needs if required. I’m happy to explore this with you. I am also able to offer concessions for Students or Trainee counsellors.

My first session

I understand that it’s important that you find a counsellor who is the right fit for you, so I offer a free, no obligation, online video or telephone consultation. In this, we can explore what's brought you to counselling, go through any questions that you might have, discuss how I might be able to support you and any reasonable adjustments that you might find helpful.

Session one is a bit different from the other sessions that follow. It's useful for me to get a bit more of an overview of your life, what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to focus on. Therefore, in our first session, I may be asking more questions than usual and about specific things. There’s no pressure, and it’s just a chance for me to get to know you better. Otherwise, our counselling sessions are your time to use as you want, whether that be exploring the same topic each week, or whatever you feel like talking about on the day.
