About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel unseen and/or unheard?

Have you felt this way since childhood, or more recently?

Do you feel something is not quite right, but can鈥檛 quite pinpoint what it is?

I am here to sit alongside you and to help you on your journey.

鈥淣ot everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced鈥 鈥 James Baldwin

Practice description

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (网爆门) and work according to their Ethical Framework. I am also a practitioner member of the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network, and a member of the Relational School.

I have a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapy and counselling from the University of Leeds. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in workplace dispute resolution. I also volunteer as a bereavement counsellor at a hospice.

There are a variety of approaches to the way that therapists work with their clients. I have been trained in an integrative relational therapeutic approach. This means that I use different techniques and tools to tailor an individual approach for you.

My aim is to build with you a trusting, non-judgemental and collaborative relationship that helps you to gain self-awareness and develop new perspectives, set goals or develop new behaviours. Sessions usually take place on a weekly basis to allow this to happen.

You are the expert in your own life, so you can let me know what you find helpful or unhelpful. I will not give you advice, but the aim is for you to feel safe enough to explore the past, the present, and potentially different and more fulfilling ways of being.

My first session

I provide both short-term issues-based counselling and longer term open-ended therapy, depending on the reason for you seeking support, online and by telephone. I usually recommend that we meet for a fixed number of sessions before reviewing our work together and agreeing on how to move forward.

I offer a free consultation of up to 30 minutes, online or by telephone, without obligation. This is an opportunity for you (among other things) to explain what you are looking for and to ask more about the way in which I work. We can then decide whether we are happy to work together.

I will respond to your enquiry as soon as I can, but please allow up to 24 hours for me to reply. If you send or leave a message over the weekend, I will reply by the following Monday.
