About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my practice. I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling (Distinction) from Regent’s University London.
As part of my degree, I have been trained in psychodynamic, existential, humanistic and CBT approaches.
I have undertaken additional training in trauma and trauma informed therapy, relationship therapy, involuntary childlessness, bereavement and loss and a foundation training in systemic practice.
As well as my private practice, I am a volunteer counsellor with two charities (one bereavement specific, the other all issues).
I am a fully registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ). As such, I abide by its ethical code of conduct and so I have regular supervision with a clinical supervisor which supports my practice and work with you and I undertake regular continuing professional development to retain my professional membership.
As an integrative practitioner, I am able to draw on various approaches so I can aim to tailor our work together to your individual needs. I seek to create a non-judgmental, safe and containing therapeutic space in which we can work together towards achieving your goals. I work with compassion, respect and authenticity.
Prior to becoming a therapist I was a solicitor for some 25 years first as a corporate lawyer and then as a family and child lawyer and mediator.
I have a particular interest in bereavement and loss (including miscarriage and baby loss) life transitions; professional burnout; relationships and separation; parenting and co-parenting; involuntary childlessness; fertility issues; and trauma.
Practice description
I work face to face and on-line with individuals 18+.
I have comfortable rooms in SW11, SW12, SW4 and SW19.
I also work with couples or those in intimate relationships but face to face only.
Sessions are held weekly on the same day and at the same time and last 50 minutes.
I have occasional concessionary slots for trainees, when available.
My first session
I offer an initial 15 minute telephone call free of charge.
In this call, we can discuss what it is that brings you to consider therapy at this time and I can give you an idea of how I work.
If you wish to proceed, I will invite you to a first session and I will send you my therapy agreement which I will ask you to bring with you to that session.
Our first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my usual hourly rate payable 48 hours in advance.
It largely consists of an assessment to ascertain your goals for therapy and for us to get to know each other and to see if we wish to continue working together.
It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy I offer and how we may work together and any questions you have on my therapy agreement.
There is no obligation to continue after this first session as I believe it is important that you are comfortable and find the right fit of therapist for you and equally that I assess that I have the relevant expertise to assist you. If I do not, I will assist in an onward referral.
If we agree to proceed then I will ask you to sign my therapy agreement and we can set up a mutually convenient day and time for on-going sessions.
