About me and my therapy practice

Are you looking for someone to help you feel heard and supported?

I offer flexibility, time and space to explore whatever challenges you may be facing. With experience supporting a wide range of clients and concerns, I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs.

In addition to offering general practice, I also have a particular interest in supporting clients navigating parenting and relationship dynamics, infertility and issues related to neurodiversity and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

My private therapy practice draws on my previous experience working with NHS patients, supporting families through a perinatal mental health charity and working with parent carers in a SEND school environment. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the challenges individuals and families face, which I bring into every session to offer thoughtful, personalised support.

Practice description

I currently offer video sessions remotely via MS Teams, or telephone voice calls if you prefer. I find that delivering therapy remotely allows clients to feel more relaxed as they have the freedom to choose their own comfortable location when they attend the sessions.

This generally works well for clients who need to fit sessions around busy lifestyle, work or family commitments as you don’t need to factor in travel time etc.

I am comfortable and experienced with working with clients with young children present during their sessions as I understand childcare is not always available.

I work with clients local to Yorkshire and also nationally.

My first session

In our first session I work with clients to identify and understand the key issues that are currently causing difficulty in their lives. Before we meet, I’ll send a brief questionnaire to help us understand how these challenges may be impacting your day to day wellbeing.

During the session, we’ll also discuss your hopes and expectations for therapy. If you feel comfortable and would like to continue, we’ll use the final part of the session to agree on a plan and schedule that works for you.

My first session

In our first session I work to understand the current issues that are problematic in your life. We also review how much the problems are affecting daily life via a simple questionnaire I will send in advance of the session.

During the initial session we can talk through your hopes and expectations from therapy and answer any questions you might have. Then if you feel comfortable with moving forwards with counselling we use the last part of the session to plan how we can work towards your goals over our future sessions.
