Availability

I offer flexible availability as I understand family and work commitments can mean it may be difficult to attend a set time each week.

I currently offer daytime sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and sessions on selected weekday evenings. Please message to find out my current availability.

About me and my therapy practice

In addition to general therapy, I specialise in supporting issues related to parenting and/or relationship dynamics. I gently support people feeling overwhelmed with the daily juggling act of parenting, relationships, work and everything else.

I have a bit of a unique background as I had a scientific career (with degrees in Genetics and Biosciences) before training to become a qualified counsellor. This allows me to gently provide a scientific approach to my sessions alongside the therapeutic techniques I use. I also have specialist experience related to working with interpersonal relationships, pregnancy, infertility and issues related to neurodiversity and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

My private therapy practice draws on my previous and current professional experiences. These include working with NHS patients, perinatal mental health, historical trauma and parent carers in a SEND school environment. These have given me a deep understanding of the challenges individuals and families face, which I bring into every session to offer thoughtful, personalised support.

I offer flexibility, time and space to explore whatever challenges you may be facing. With experience supporting a wide range of clients and concerns, I tailor my approach to meet each clients individual needs from our sessions together.

Practice description

I currently offer daytime sessions and selected evenings remotely via video (MS Teams) or the telephone. This allows you to feel relaxed as you have the freedom to choose your own time and location for attending sessions.

This works well if you need to fit sessions around busy lifestyle, work or family commitments as you don’t need to factor in travel time etc. Clients often book sessions after putting their children to bed for example and I’m flexible to accommodate your needs around timings.

You are also welcome to have younger children present during your sessions as I understand childcare is not always available.

I work with clients local to East Yorkshire and also nationally across the UK.

My first session

In our first session we get to know each other a little and I work to understand the current issues that are problematic in your life. We will also review how much the problems are affecting daily life via a simple questionnaire I send in advance of the session.

During the initial session we can talk through your hopes and expectations from therapy and answer any questions you might have. Then if you feel comfortable with moving forwards with counselling we use the last part of the session to plan how we can work towards your goals over our future sessions.

If you would like a short complimentary phone call prior to booking your first session with me I am happy to offer this on request. This gives a quick opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get a feel for what working with me may be like for you.
