Availability

I am accepting new clients. I offer a fully remote, confidential, and accessible therapy service. I am available during the day most weekdays and evenings.

About me and my therapy practice

I provide a confidential, ethical and transparent therapy service for adults and young adults. I help people who want to understand themselves better, people who want to process relational trauma, navigate difficult feelings, build healthier self-esteem, live more meaningful lives, and feel more themselves.

My clients have often experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, and/or the compounding effects of being so-called "different" from more dominant systems - be-it neurodiversity, disability, gender, sexuality, race, religion, military, education, or even personality.

I aim to provide you with the safety, space and understanding needed for you to explore yourself, and to experience change (if change is what you would like). No matter who you are or what has happened to you, I work at your pace, with respect, no judgment, and with your goals at heart.

Practice description

I am integrative Counselling Psychologist trained in the use of Psychodynamic, Relational, Humanistic-Existential, Cognitive-Behavioural, Mindfulness-based, and Compassion-oriented models of therapy. I am also an accredited Mindfulness teacher.

More specifically, I work with the difficulties associated with complex trauma, experiences of abuse, neglect, shame, dissociation, self-harm, depression, ADHD, autism, HIV/AIDS issues, sexuality and gender differences (including gender dysphoria, body dysmorphic disorder), disabilities (both hidden and visible), chronic fatigue, and anxiety disorders.

The nature of therapy means that it can be tailored to you and your needs. I will work with you at your pace, whether in a time-limited or open-ended way, with a specific goal in mind or as more of an exploration, to ensure that therapy is meeting your goals. If you are not sure what you need, we will explore this together.

The major benefit of therapy is that it is your space without any expectations to 'perform'. This can be both empowering and vulnerable. As such, I am patient, transparent, open and accountable in how I receive you and your identities. Because I believe that relationships are fundamental to our wellbeing, I take responsibility for my part in building and maintaining our relationship, and will strive to ensure you feel heard and understood.

As such, my approach relies on the development of a safe, non-judgmental relationship between us in which you feel able to be fully yourself. This allows us to explore how we relate to each other and what this might tell us about how you relate to yourself, others and the world. Out of this, over time, new ways of being, understanding and insight can emerge.

Where we might find patterns which feel more 'stuck' or behaviours which frustrate or hurt you, I draw on numerous practices to help you move through them.

My first session

In our first session, we will explore what you are currently experiencing and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. It is also an opportunity to explore whether we feel we are a good fit for each other. If we both feel that we are, and I feel that I have the skills to help you, then we would generally schedule a weekly time for us to meet.

In your first email to me, please feel free to ask me about fees, insurance and concession rates when you email me. I am committed to making my therapy affordable and accessible. This includes a sliding scale for fees or the potential to have therapy fortnightly if needed.

I know from experience that starting therapy - for the first or fifth time - can feel daunting and risky. Therapy can also be life-changing. I work hard to ensure it is the latter. I am an LGBTQ+ ally, disability-aware, trauma-focused, identity-affirming therapist who will work sensitively with you to help you understand where you are, where you have been, and where you would like to go.
