About me and my therapy practice
Do you often find yourself caring deeply for others, while struggling to express how you really feel?
Have you spent years looking after everyone else — always the reliable one — yet quietly feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unseen?
Are you especially attuned to the mood in a room, easily unsettled by noise, tension, or change?
Do you find comfort in creativity — in making, imagining, or expressing what’s hard to put into words?
Many of the individuals and families I work with experience the world in emotionally rich, deeply felt ways. They may be thoughtful, perceptive, and caring — but also prone to burnout, anxiety, or self-doubt, especially when their inner lives haven’t been fully seen or understood.
You might be holding a lot beneath the surface. Perhaps you’ve learned to keep the peace, avoid conflict, or stay busy meeting others’ needs. If you're a parent, you may recognise similar qualities in your child — someone who is sensitive to their environment, emotionally responsive, and often overwhelmed by things others find easy.
As an integrative counsellor, I offer a warm, creative space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface — gently and at your own pace. This might include reflective conversation, expressive arts, guided imagery, or time in nature.
Whether you're looking to reconnect with yourself or support a child who feels the world deeply, I’ll meet you with care, curiosity, and respect. Together, we can work toward greater understanding, resilience, and emotional ease, helping you or your child move from simply coping to truly thriving in the world.
Practice description
I have a therapy space in a creative arts centre in the west end of Newcastle. I also offer outdoor therapy (ecotherapy) in a quiet and beautiful organic garden: containing ponds, a forest garden, orchard area, meadow, woodland and raised bed areas.
My first session
I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone call where you’re welcome to ask any questions you may have about beginning therapy.
If you're happy to move forward, we’ll schedule an initial assessment session. This session (up to 90 minutes and charged at my standard rate) gives us time to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’d like to get out of it, and whether you’re interested in working indoors or in an outdoor setting. It’s also an opportunity for you to reflect on whether you feel comfortable with me—something that’s essential, as the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy.
In our first session, we’ll also work together to create an agreement outlining how we’ll approach the therapeutic work. We’ll also discuss important topics like confidentiality, safeguarding, and your goals for therapy.
When working with children or teenagers, I usually recommend an initial assessment with a parent or carer in person to understand a little of what brought you here and to gather essential information relating to support needs, education and life history. Following this, I will meet with you and your child or young person to introduce therapy in a gentle and age-appropriate way. Together, we will begin identifying any goals they may have and ensure they feel safe and supported in the process.
