About me and my therapy practice
Embarking on the journey of therapy can feel daunting. Having personally accessed therapy, I recognise the mix of emotions that may come with seeking support—apprehension, hope, and perhaps even a bit of uncertainty. It's completely normal if you feel this way, and I want you to know that you're not alone. You're showing incredible strength by considering this step, and I'm here to walk alongside you with compassion and understanding.
I have experience working with a diverse range of emotional and life challenges, including anxiety, bereavement and loss, relationship issues, OCD, self-harm, sexual and domestic abuse, low mood and depression, neurodiversity (such as ADHD and autism), LGBTQ+ matters, physical disabilities, and substance use. My aim is always to offer a compassionate, safe, and validating space where you’re free to explore what’s most important to you. Whether you’re navigating grief, identity, mental health struggles, or life transitions, I’m here to walk alongside you with understanding and respect.
With a Master's degree in Integrated Counselling and Psychotherapy, awarded with distinction, I offer a compassionate and client-centred approach to therapy for individuals aged 16 and over. Drawing from a rich tapestry of therapeutic modalities, I tailor each session to meet your unique needs, fostering a safe and supportive environment for personal growth and healing.
As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÍø±¬ÃÅ), I adhere to the highest standards of ethical practice and professional development. This membership underscores my commitment to ongoing learning and accountability, ensuring that you get the best out of each session.
Practice description
In our work together, you’ll find a space built on genuine care, respect, and authenticity.
You’ll be met with openness and understanding—no judgment, no hidden agenda—just someone who truly listens and supports you. My aim is to create a calm, accepting environment where you can explore what matters most.
Below, you’ll see an overview of the different counselling approaches I use in my practice, so you can get a clearer sense of what might best support you.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that helps to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. By understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, we can work together to develop healthier coping strategies and perspectives.
Person-Centred Therapy
This approach emphasises creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood. By offering unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness, I aim to offer a robust therapeutic relationship and environment that support you to explore your feelings and experiences, facilitating self-discovery and personal growth.
Attachment Theory
Attachment Theory delves into how early relationships and experiences shape emotional bonds and behaviours in adulthood. By understanding your attachment style and its impact on current relationships, we can work together to heal past wounds and build healthier, more secure connections.
Integrating These Modalities
By combining the structured techniques of CBT with the empathetic foundation of Person-Centred Therapy and the depth of Attachment Therapy, we can address both the present challenges and the underlying patterns that influence your well-being.
This integrative approach aims to: understand and reframe unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, explore and heal past and present trauma and develop healthier coping strategies and interpersonal relationships
Together, we will create a therapeutic experience that is as unique as you are.
My first session
Your First Session: What to Expect
Your initial 1.5-hour assessment session is free of charge and designed to ensure you feel confident and comfortable working with me. This extended session provides ample time to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have.
During this session, we will:
Discuss the therapeutic contract: We'll outline the structure of our work together, including session frequency, fees, cancellation policies, and any other details. This agreement ensures clarity and mutual understanding from the beginning.
Address confidentiality: I'll explain the limits of confidentiality and how your personal information will be handled.
Complete any necessary assessments: Depending on your needs, we may use questionnaires or other tools to gather information about your current situation and goals.
Answer your questions: This is your opportunity to ask any questions about the therapy process, my approach, or anything else on your mind.
This initial session is an opportunity for both of us to determine if we're a good fit to work together. There's no obligation to continue if you don't feel comfortable or if you decide therapy isn't the right step for you at this time.
