About me and my therapy practice
If you are struggling with issues impacting your mental health, then I am here to offer my help.
I provide a safe, comfortable space in which you can explore concerns including:
Anxiety, Depression / low mood, Relationship / marriage concerns or breakdown, Low self esteem / low confidence, Loss / grief or bereavement, Negative or limiting beliefs / intrusive thoughts, Anger, Bullying or abuse, Obsessive compulsive behaviour(s) (OCD), Difficulties arising from work or study, Trauma, past or present, Family issues, to list just a few...
I work with both individual clients for one-to-one sessions and with couples seeking to explore and rebuild relationships that may be broken. During my time as a counsellor I have gained extensive experience working with a range of presenting issues and with a diverse mix of clients in terms of social, cultural, and religious backgrounds. I am an integrative counsellor working with multiple modalities including Person Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focussed Therapy.
I strongly believe private counselling should be as affordable as possible, so seek to offer rates that reflect that belief and enable as many people as possible to access help and support at the time of need.
Any new enquiry can expect a response from me within 24 hours.
Practice description
I firstly offer all prospective clients a free, no obligation assessment call to ensure you have ample opportunity to ask questions about counselling, about me and my practice, and ensure that you feel you feel comfortable to book your first session with me.
Should you take the next step and work with me, you are provided with the time, space, and support needed to explore and process your concerns safely. The hope is that through counselling, you can experience a desired change and improvement in your life and your mental wellbeing. Counselling can help you overcome issues in the here and now whilst also equipping you with tools and strategies to better manage in the future.
I do not prescribe a specific approach or number of sessions from the outset as every client is unique, and whilst we may come to utilise one therapeutic approach over another during your sessions, that will always be based on your specific journey and presenting needs. It will also be based on how you wish to engage with therapy and the type of changes you are seeking to make or issues you are seeking to address. For some, simply having time and space to talk things through is sufficient. For others, more active and directive therapy may be needed involving the formation of strategies to enable and maintain change. Ultimately, we will work collaboratively to find a way of working together that suits you best, with the goal of you reaching an outcome you desire.
During your counselling journey you will never be met with judgement, only my respect, positive regard, and empathy.
I am based in Wordsley, Stourbridge, and am conveniently located for clients from Stourbridge, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Kidderminster, and associated surrounding areas.
I am also a clinical supervisor, for anyone seeking supervision whether that be through your initial training or as a qualified practitioner. Please see my website (www.your-pathway.co.uk) for further information.
My first session
The first counselling session can seem daunting to many people, and when I myself attended counselling for the first time, I certainly felt that.
During the first session I will firstly walk you through my client contract, which gives you complete clarity as to what to expect from our sessions and how aspects such as confidentiality and safeguarding are treated. It also provides you with a further chance to ask me any questions you may have. Once we have completed this and you are happy to move on, the first session is your chance to start wherever you would like to in terms of exploring what has brought you to counselling.
It is important that you understand there is no expectation from me as a counsellor on any client during the first session, and there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to do therapy. I hope to create a relaxed and supportive environment in which you feel free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with during our first session, without any sense of pressure.

About me and my therapy practice
Whether you are in training and seeking your first supervisor or you are a more experienced practitioner seeking a change or supplimentary supervision to your practice, I offer clinical supervision that may be the right fit for you.
Hi, I'm Richard, a 43 year old therapeutic counsellor/psychotherapist (Dip.Couns, MNCPS Acc., MÍø±¬ÃÅ) and clinical supervisor based in the West Midlands, and I have been supporting clients since 2020.
I work with individual clients (aged 16+) for one-to-one sessions and with couples seeking to explore and rebuild struggling relationships. I also provide clinical supervision to counselling practitioners.
I have extensive experience as a therapist and have worked with a wide range of presenting mental health issues from a diverse mix of clients in terms of social, cultural, and religious backgrounds. As a result, no matter your situation you can feel confident that I am well placed to support your needs.
I am fully qualified (Dip.Couns), and an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.), and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MÍø±¬ÃÅ).
Practice description
I am an integrative practitioner, so am able to offer support in all modalities, and can also support anyone working with relationship counselling.
I currently work solely in private practice and have done so for a number of years. Prior to this I worked in an agency setting. I have always worked with a diverse mix of clients to broaden my experience as much as possible, and my goal to become a supervisor was very much based on my desire to use and share that experience to support other practitioners through their journey as a counsellor.
I have always viewed supervision as hugely valuable and a fantastic way to work collaboratively for the benefit of practitioners and clients alike. I always enjoy the two way learning process of supervision and believe it is important to understand that, no matter your or my level of experience, we can always learn from each other through a successful supervision relationship.
Supervision is a space to bring ideas, concerns, thoughts and frustrations about your work, and I offer a safe and welcoming space in which to do so. As practitoners, we carry a lot of responsibility through our work though at the end of the day, we are all simply human! I seek to offer you a space in which you can be exactly that, with no pressure or judgement regarding anything you choose to bring to supervision.
I work predominately using Hawkins and Sohets 7-eyed model of supervision, which provides an effective template on which to build supervision practice and explore many aspects of the client-counsellor and counsellor-supervisor relationships.
If you would like to arrange an initial chat about working with me then either call me on 07984 356393, email me at yourpathway2020@outlook.com. You can also visit www.your-pathway.co.uk and complete an online enquiry form.
My first session
Prior to working together, we will have an initial conversation to see if we feel that we will match well as supervisor and supervisee. This will inform how we would progress working together for the first session and beyond.
