About me and my therapy practice
I am a Cantonese-speaking counsellor from Hong Kong and a Registered Member (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy , Associate Fellow of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (AFHKPCA) and Premarital Counselling Prepare Enrich Qualified Counsellor.
Operating as SCDC.Counselling (www.scdcc.net/en) , I provide individual, marriage, and premarital counselling through private practice, primarily utilizing Cantonese and employing Humanistic and Client-Centered approaches. My academic qualifications include an MSocSC in Counselling (HKU), a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology (HKU), and an MSSC in Social Work (CUHK).
I emphasize the importance of genuine empathy as the foundation of effective listening. The counselling process is viewed as a collaborative partnership, offering support and guidance within a secure and encouraging environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
I utilize empathy, active listening, and other therapeutic techniques to facilitate client self-awareness and the development of coping strategies. This process aims to assist clients in conflict resolution, decision-making, and personal development.
I primarily integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy into my practice and has completed extensive professional training, including the Certified Training Program in Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples (ISEFT Level A), Training Programs in Emotion-Focused Therapy for Individuals (CMAC & EFTC, York University & EFTI, Chicago), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Training (Levels 1-4, Asia EFT), Advanced Training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (Asia EFT), Advanced Training Course in Family Mediation (HKIAC), Trauma Therapy (Elementary, Intermediate & Advanced, HKCHT), The Level 1 Immersion Course in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (MHAHK), and Focusing Courses (Levels 1-4, Resculpt).
Practice description
Utilizing Emotionally-Focused Therapy and interviews, I assist individuals and couples experiencing marital difficulties in identifying and understanding detrimental interaction patterns within their relationships. Counselling sessions are tailored to each client's specific needs and circumstances, with the goal of helping individuals recognize and articulate their core emotions and needs to their partners.
I employ a variety of counselling approaches and techniques, customized to the client's requirements. These include motivational interviewing, grief counselling, addiction counselling, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Individual Counselling is designed to empower individuals facing challenges at various life stages, enabling them to rediscover their inner strengths and resilience. By cultivating self-awareness and emotional intelligence, I facilitate their ability to navigate interpersonal complexities, overcome obstacles, and discover their unique paths to fulfillment and purpose.
In Marriage Counselling interviews I provide couples facing marital challenges with the tools to effectively communicate and resolve relationship issues. My approach focuses on rebuilding and fostering a healthy, intimate connection between partners. I encourage mutual appreciation, shared aspirations, and the elevation of the relationship from satisfactory to exceptional.
In Premarital Counselling I utilize the PREPARE/ENRICH assessment scale report. I conduct four online counselling interviews with the couple, providing guidance to the prospective spouses. This process explores the influence of their families of origin on the upcoming marriage, fosters mutual understanding, enhances communication and adaptability, prepares them for married life, and cultivates a stable and harmonious marital relationship.
My first session
I conduct the counselling sessions in Cantonese via Zoom, with each session lasting one hour.Upon completion of each individual or marriage counselling session, payment is required via online banking, utilizing either a debit card or FPS.
Individual Counselling is priced at £50 per session, with subsequent sessions billed at £25 for each 30-minute increment.
Marriage Counselling, which involves couples attending the interview together, is priced at £60 per session, and subsequent sessions are charged at £30 for every 30-minute increment.
Sessions lasting less than 30 minutes will be billed at the 30-minute.
